[Oh.

It's been a year since she came here. Well not a complete year, given she left for a few days in January, but pretty much her entire time has been condensed into living in this one village where almost nothing interesting happens unless it is forced upon everyone through experiment. Fantastic.]Question ( Read more... )

Actually, when people are sent home, they arrive back the very second they left. No one has any time to notice you're gone and nothing changes.

[She knows that actually. Not that she'll tell him. Discussing matters like that are pointless to someone who she's sure might just scratch his head in confusion.]

I'm positive the Malnosso designed it to be such. Giving out secrets like this is hard if no one can even remember the secret to begin with. For it to be an 'unfortunate side-effect' seems to convenient.

I'm sure they did. The memory loss, at least - I don't know if the timing on getting sent home is their doing or that of the world in general.

The blue one boasted in the summer time that he was able to send a large amount of people home in a short time.

[Jack is in this club too, now.]

Why not just give in and go insane, darling? Far more easier to do that, I'll wager.

Yeah, it is easy. Too easy. Easy things like that are just boring.

Plus, I don't like giving up.

I only like it when bad things happen, because they interest me more. The earthquake was rather interesting.

[Oh, Bern. You have such a way with words.] Well, isn't that just a nice thought.

[She is a poet.

No, really, she is a poet.]

It's an honest one. I never claimed to be kind.

I know that much. [It's always a poet.] I'm pretty sure most of the people here don't really try to forget their friends. Or whatever the hell they want.

[Look! He's trying this discussion thing! Even if he doesn't care.]

People find attachments in their memories. What about you then? Do you try to remember people who left?

I have never forgotten any of my friends. I just know they wouldn't want me to be sad all the time missing them.

Alright, I know you aren't as dumb as you act. Even you must realize that when people leave they forget Luceti. Like a fading memory that only stays for a few seconds and then is abandoned. They wouldn't even remember you when they go back, so why bother with remembering them?

Because they are my friends. There doesn't need to be more of a reason than that. Even if they return here and have forgotten me, that doesn't change the good times I remember. It doesn't really change who they are. We'll just have to start over again.

And who knows, maybe back home they will remember me someday and smile.

How cute. Your speech sounds catered to a group of seven year olds who probably think people are better off dying because they go to a better place. People like you are the biggest of mysteries for me.

[A light snort as she flicks her hair boredly.]

Starting over huh? That sounds rather cold. Like people here just have reset buttons on the back of their necks that you can press and return them to their original state.

Then you choose to reject your reality in favor of a new one. Does that mean you choose to abandon that past reality completely?

Then you accept what you see and think nothing more of it?
