The words Music Hall by Andrew Carnegie are still a part of the facade under the marquee. When I read that the board 'persuaded' him to allow the use of his name a couple years later, I was intrigued.
I am also surprised that he needed to be talked into it. I imagined that most of the magnates of the past looked at self-branding the way someone like Trump does today, but I suppose not. An interesting read!
Apparently, he wrote: "...The amassing of wealth is one of the worse species of idolatry. No idol more debasing than the worship of money." in a memo to himself. I didn't actually discover that until today.
