We were headed to New York for Christmas a few years ago. We didn't leave Friday as planned, because a snow storm blew in Friday morning. We waited until the next day so that it would be daylight and the roads would have time to be cleared. My husband, my nine month old baby, two dogs, and I left the house at 7 a.m. Saturday morning. Wow, I'm exhausted just reading about your trip. I've been on two-hour drives that stretched out to eight hours, but never anything as bad as this.

It was definitely an interesting experience. I've decided that I should be thankful that my son was only 9 months old and not older and more active at the time.

Ack, that beats some of my nightmare Christmas-travel stories all to hell and back, and some of them were pretty bad!

Hotel Hyndai was a worse alternative than I thought, though your point about being woken up by honking should anything change? Fair enough!

I might have, but there was literally, no turning around. By the time we were moving the next morning, the roads were miraculously cleared.
