why passing is not awesome

Passing is perhaps the central component through whether trans lives are considered ‘successful’ or not, and as such it is the central component of trans oppression. It is the part of our lives always up for debate in public, and by which cis people mark trans individuals as ‘other.’ I’ve written about this before, as a response to the cis belief

yeah, I know I've done (at least in my head) some of those things.

like someone says in the cmments, sometimes it's different coming from someone who's trans than from someone's who's cis. but sometimes not.

some of these conversations i had were before i identified as trans. i mean, no-one i spoke to was insulted (or at least, if they were, they were very good at hiding it), so i doubt i did much damage, but it's nice to think about for the future.

I WAS NOT AWARE OF PURIMGIFTS OMG but it actually looks like not my thing. i'm not a multifandomer. i basically have two fandoms: bandom and disney rpf, which wasn't even mentioned in their last fandom round-up. :////
