“You.” He hisses the words. “Look, I saved your life once, but that was the end of the deal. Don’t make me regret it.”
She only smiles and floats across the room on the balls of her feet. She settles in next to him on the bed, getting uncomfortably close. He tries to edge away, but there’s no more room.
“Oh, come on,” she says, laughing, but her eyes are careful. “If you wanted me dead, I wouldn’t have made it this far without you tearing me limb from limb.” She shakes her wild hair, throwing her terrible scent in his direction. He scowls fiercely, crossing his arms.
“What do you want?” he says after a very long pause ( ... )
