The first night back, Bella gets in her car (No longer the red truck she loved, something small, fancy and black.) and drives, not aware of where she is heading but allowing herself to keep going. Once she is driving down a familiar road, her chest tightens and she gnaws on her lip, unsure if she should keep going. (There are rules, Bella. You must follow them. Even if you don't want to.)
She cannot resist despite knowing that what she is doing is wrong and comes at a stop. She gets out of the car gracefully (Becoming a vampire erased her clumsy nature completely. She'd never admit it to anyone, but she misses it. She misses so much.) and walks forward. Not a minute later, she is shoved to the ground, her wrists in her attacker's hands and the scent of a wolf filling her nose ( ... )
