Another day spent in front of the computer, the same as always, nothing ever changing, nothing exciting every happening, nothing to spark his attention. Mike tapped his fingertips against the cherry desk while staring at the computer monitor, waiting for his game to begin. This familiar sight would greet him every single day and he had realized days ago that it brought him comfort, to have something be a constant in his boring life.

After graduation, he had thought he would go to college, live that frat boy lifestyle and hook up with as many girls as possible, but fate was cruel and had stepped in, not allowing this shred of normalcy in his life. His parents had lost the business and he had been forced to give up his dreams. (His parents assured him that it would only be for a bit. Things would get better, they'd be all right eventually.)

A bit had turned into a year. His friends had gone off to colleges across the country, leaving him to find his own friend with solitude.
