Dual citizenship is a difficult subject to tackle and I think you've breathed in a very complex, interesting take on what Tina's home life is like. This isn't even taking into account the why of who Tina is, especially since Tina's the one more connected to her roots, when it's typically fandom that Mike is the one who's all up on the Asian Pride. Once again, your ability to breathe depth and characterization into the bit characters of Tina and Mike continue to astound me.

Really enjoyed this :) Like the look into Tina's home life, and how really she and Mike don't necessarily fit into the stereotypes that people assume they do (with him being the 'traditional' Asian and her being much less so). I love that she's a dual language speaker, but so happy that her mother is trying to learn English - that was a very sweet reference.

Plus, as the owner of a dual nationality, I can completely relate to the difficulties she mentions. Not so much from the traditional expectations, but the feeling of hovering between two existences. We used to call it being 'culturally schizophrenic'.

Also? The two of them are just lovely, and rounded, and sweet and wonderful.

Aw, Tina should never blame herself for being an 'oops'. My younger bro was an oops, and he became an utterly nice oops after he reached adulthood.

Oh my, that dual citizenship thing. Land of your birth vs. land of your upbringing? Hey, story of my bro's life! Tough call, that. Repercussions felt across the years.

“Explains why your Dad doesn’t trust me…”. Wahahahah, no father ever, EVER, likes any boy their daughter brings back. Comes from seeing a guy vowing he'll beat up any guy who tries to date his two daughters, one who is 3, the other a newborn!

Ah kaitybear, this is a story worth waiting weeks for. Resonates so well on so many personal levels with me.
