09.01 PM - Jongin
”I can't sleep.”
A pouting Jongin crossed his arms over his chest and Kyungsoo let out a deep sigh.
“It's already past bedtime. If we don't go to sleep now my mom may never let you stay over again on a school night.” Kyungsoo whispered. “Now close your eyes and count to 100, I promise it's not that hard.”
But the younger boy had no plans on doing as told. Instead, he rolled over onto his side and ended up face to face with the other boy, who was trying to sleep at the opposite end of the same bed. The lights were already out and the only source of light in the room was the moon shining in through the small window. It left the room in a mysterious glow and it was no wonder Jongin was kept awake.
“Hey Soo,” Jongin whispered. “Let's play truth or dare.”
These words caught the older boy's attention and Jongin's face lit up in a grin. Good thing the room was so dark, Kyungsoo would never have admitted defeat if he'd seen Jongin looking so smug. But the words had indeed peaked his interest.
“Truth or dare? Right now?” Kyungsoo asked.
“Yes! I can start us off if you want to.” Jongin generously offered, pondering whether he should go out strong or make a slow start with this exciting game. Truth or dare really was the ultimate event of a sleepover, he'd read so in his sisters' magazines. That, having pillow fights and baking cookies, but that had seemed a little too girlish for his taste.
“Okay fine. But we'll have to be quiet. It's already past nine and we can't let mom know we are staying up this late.” Kyungsoo whispered and Jongin nodded in agreement. The older boy leaned back and fumbled with the lamp cord, taking a few seconds to find the switch but then allowing a warm yellow light to grace the bedroom. “You can ask first.”
“Truth or dare, Soo?” Jongin eagerly asked. The older boy did not take long before giving an answer.
“Dare.” Kyungsoo bravely declared and Jongin let out a little laugh.
“Okay. You will have to… Do a handstand as I count to 20!”
A few seconds of silence followed, but then Kyungsoo jumped off the bed like there was no time to lose. He took aim, kicked off and his back soon hit the wall, feet in the air and pyjama shirt falling to his ears to expose his stomach. Jongin had only counted to seven before the other boy's face had turned beet-red and the unusual sight had Jongin hiss with suppressed laughter. Somehow he still managed to count to 20 and Kyungsoo could finally get his feet back on earth.
“Okay, your turn.” Kyungsoo said, chest heaving as he crawled back onto the bed, trying to catch his breath. “Truth or dare?”
“Hmm… I'll have a… Dare?” A nervous laughter escaped Jongin's lips.
“Okay! You will have to… Sneak downstairs and bring me a glass of soda!” Kyungsoo made an evil grin and Jongin's heart skipped a beat.
“No way! What if your mom is still up? And we've already brushed our teeth.” he complained.
“I never said I was going to drink it, idiot. Now go! Be brave!” Kyungsoo giggled and Jongin's heart didn't only jump this time. It was racing.
And so, the younger boy did as he was told and jumped off the bed. He carefully opened the door and snuck out, but not before giving Kyungsoo a pleading look. The older boy would however not back down and he waved suggestively at Jongin, who closed the door behind him.
Kyungsoo's house was not that big, but having spent most of their five years as best friends playing outside or at Jongin's house, Jongin had never actually managed to make himself feel at home here. There was definitely something strange about wandering the house at night. Walking on his tiptoes, he went down the stairs and gently pushed the door to the kitchen open. He froze. Kyungsoo's mother was sitting by the table with her back turned towards him. In her right hand she held a big bottle from a brand he'd never seen before and she proceeded to drink heavily directly out of it. Whatever it contained must have been good enough to make pouring it into a glass seem like an unnecessary effort.
Jongin realised that he would have to admit defeat. There was no way he could sneak past her and get to the fridge. He closed the door, went back up the stairs and entered Kyungsoo's bedroom, looking down at his feet.
“Hey! Where's my soda?” Kyungsoo asked and Jongin shook his head.
“Your mom was in the kitchen so I couldn't do it. Sorry.”
“That's okay.” Wrinkles appeared on Kyungsoo's forehead. “Hey. Was she… Was she making lunch for tomorrow or..?”
“No, I don't think so.” Jongin confessed. “She was just drinking something.”
“I see.” Kyungsoo said, suddenly mimicking Jongin's guilty expression. “Well, speaking from experience that means she'll go to bed soon. But you failed!” he exclaimed. “You'll have to go again, those are the rules!” Kyungsoo made a triumphant grin and looked back up at Jongin, who had made himself comfortable on the bed once more.
“Okay then. I'll have a truth this time.” Jongin let out the words accompanied by a delighted sigh. Having failed his last mission seemed to be insignificant to Kyungsoo, thank god. But the moment of relief did not last very long, because Kyungsoo's question shook him to the core.
“Who do you like?”
The only noise in the bedroom was the sound of their breathing. A very startled Jongin looked down at his hands, suddenly very uncomfortable.
“Why would you ask me that? That's too personal. Ask me something else.” he whispered.
“No way! This is the point of the game! And you wanted to play!” Kyungsoo said, his voice suddenly stern. “No take-backs.”
Jongin's mind was racing, he'd not been counting on the game to escalate this quickly. But he had to stick to the rules, especially since he failed his last mission. He had to tell the truth. And so he did.
“Well, I like no one.” he proclaimed and Kyungsoo's forehead turned wrinkly with suspicion. “Sorry, but I can't answer it because there's no one I like. We're ten years old, my mom says that's fine and that I'm maybe too young for that. Don't you think so too?”
“I'm eleven.”
“We're basically the same age, Soo. How about you then? Do you have someone you like?”
“Yes.” Kyungsoo's words made Jongin fall silent, allowing the older boy to elaborate. “She's in my class at school. She has very pretty hair and can draw really nice pictures.” Kyungsoo proudly admitted, a hint of red on his cheeks.
Jongin didn't know what to say. He could never have imagined that Kyungsoo was already so grown up, that there was a girl he liked. His friend really was amazing.
“No way! Do I know her? What's her name? Can I meet her? Does she like you too? Have you two kissed?” Jongin's tornado of questions hit Kyungsoo and he blushed a little as he allowed himself to get swept along. No, I'm not going to tell you, absolutely not, I don't know, NO WE ARE ELEVEN IT'S WAY TOO EARLY FOR THAT!
Kyungsoo was almost bursting with pride and Jongin's eyes sparkled in the moonlight. His friend was so cool, but at the same time he was feeling a little strange. Maybe it was weird for him to not have a girl he liked. But how was he supposed to find one, and even worse; realise that he liked her? The girls in his class were utterly uninteresting.
But obviously, Kyungsoo knew. So he decided to play the game.
“Let's move on. Truth or dare, Soo. Please say truth.” he begged.
“Fine. Truth, even though I think my confession should totally count as a round of truth.”
“It doesn't. Okay. How do you know if you like someone?” Jongin asked.
“That's a good question.” Kyungsoo admitted while tilting his head, his hand suddenly holding his chin in an extremely cliché thinking-pose. “I think… I think it's when you look at someone and realise that all you want to do is to make them smile. Like, all the time. Yeah. At least that's what I think.”
“I see…” Jongin mumbled. “But Soo?”
“Yeah?”
“I think that's how you can feel about friends too.”
“Hmm, maybe you're right. I've never thought about it like this before.”
“Yeah. Because what you just said? I feel like that. About you. And you're my best friend in the whole world.” Jongin whispered.
Kyungsoo let out a little laugh and Jongin did the same, although his was not nearly as carefree.
“You're so cute. And you're my best friend too.” The boys locked eyes with eachother, both of them grinning like idiots. Kyungsoo's words had calmed Jongin's nervousness and he unexpectedly let out a big yawn.
“Maybe we should try to sleep now. I'm exhausted from doing the handstand.” Kyungsoo said and crawled back under the blanket, letting out a big yawn as well. Jongin followed suit as Kyungsoo reached out of the bed to turn out the lights. He was going to sleep really well tonight, he could feel it.
“Goodnight, Soo.”
“Goodnight, Jongin.”

01.44 AM - Kyungsoo
”I can't sleep.”
Kyungsoo let out a big groan when he heard Jongin's words coming from the other side of the bed.
“You're impossible. If you keep on complaining I'm going to kick you out because I need my sleep. Good luck with finding a hotel at this hour.” Kyungsoo murmured.
“Okay, okay. I'll shut up.” Jongin pouted.
The boys were laying back to back on Kyungsoo's tiny bed. His university was incredible in the sense that there were single bedrooms available for students being admitted on special scolarships. That's why Kyungsoo hadn't objected to Jongin finally deciding on coming to visit for a couple of days, his childhood friend staying in his bedroom a few nights was not going to bother anyone. Besides himself, that was. Sharing a tiny bed with another boy, who by the way was quite a lot taller and also bigger due to muscles, was not optimal but unless Jongin would agree to sleep on the floor there was nothing to be done about it.
“Thank you. I have an early lecture tomorrow and then I won't be back until noon. Feel free to make yourself breakfast and sleep in if you'd like.” Kyungsoo whispered and flinched when he felt Jongin's back touch his own. Sharing a bed was not something he'd done since he was a kid. He truly was the worst college student ever.
“That's very nice of you. But I have a better idea.”
Kyungsoo wanted to give up on life. He recognised the tone in that voice. It was mischievous. Jongin was definitely up to something.
“Oh really? Who would've thought.” Kyungsoo yawned as he tried to roll over and embarrassingly enough ended up bumping his forehead into Jongin's.
“Oh yes.” Jongin said and even though the room was pitch black Kyungsoo could swear that Jongin had the smuggest grin on his face.
“So? What do you propose, idiot?”
“Something we haven't done in the longest time. A true classic. Let's play truth or dare.”
It took all of Kyungsoo's willpower to keep calm. The urge to both laugh and scream in agony was way too tempting.
“Seriously? We aren't kids any more, Jongin!” he ended up saying instead with just a hint of exhaustion in his voice, which was an admirable effort of self restraint to say the least.
“That's what makes it way more exciting!” Jongin giggled.
“You're drunk.” Kyungsoo mumbled, shaking his head as he remembered the party Jongin had physically dragged him to earlier that night. But what the hell. Who knew when Jongin was going to come back and visit? Maybe the younger boy was onto something here. Maybe he wanted to spend as many hours with his best friend as possible before had to go back to his own university when the week was over.
“Shut up, I'm perfectly fine.” Jongin muttered aggressively, immediately pulling Kyungsoo out of his thoughts.
There was probably absolutely no reasoning behind this. Only drunkenness.
“Fine. Since you asked so nicely.” The sarcasm in Kyungsoo's tone was murderous, but Jongin either chose to ignore it or did simply not pick up on it. Most probably the latter. “But you'll have to go first. Truth or dare?”
“Truuuuuth!” Jongin exclaimed. “Truth, truth, truth. Bring it on.” The younger boy stretched out an arm and turned on the little lamp on the bedside table.
“You want to spill some secrets? That's fine with me. How many girls have you hooked up with since you started university? I bet that exclusive dance programme you got into has got plenty of pretty and flexible girls, ay?” Kyungsoo ended with a smirk. But Jongin did not comply. In the mellow light it became evident how his cheeks were rosy and his eyes dim. Just how many drinks had he had?
“I don't know, Soo. How many girls have YOU hooked up with, hmm?”
“None? Just answer the question Jongin, or this is going to turn into the shortest round of truth and dare in history.”
“Okay fine. Just one. Maybe two. Or five. I don't remember. And it all fucking sucked, in case you wanted to know that as well.” Jongin muttered.
“Sucked? Really? I thought...” Kyungsoo began to say, but Jongin cut him off mid-sentence.
“My turn! Truth or dare, Soo?”
“If that's how we're playing it, I'll have a truth as well. You're not making me get out of bed at this hour.”
“You're getting old.”
“Last time I checked, 21 wasn't old at all.”
“Shush. Tell me the truth. Ahem. Why are you so boring nowadays?”
“Is that your question for me?”
Jongin nodded.
“What the hell? What kind of a question is that?” Kyungsoo laughed.
“An honest one.” Jongin said, his face suddenly expressionless. “Tell me. What's happened to my best friend Kyungsoo? The one who would sneak out to go play with me even though it was already dark outside? Where's the Kyungsoo who would actually have taken the time to come back home and visit me during the breaks when he left for college and left his friend behind for four years? Where's my Soo, the Soo who would not have turned down the drinks offered at a freaking college party?”
“Okay Jongin, you're seriously drunk. This was a bad idea. Maybe you should go back to sleep.” Kyungsoo raised his voice ever so slightly and reached over Jongin to flip the switch on the lamp cord.
But Jongin had no intentions of putting out the lights and falling asleep. He caught Kyungsoo's arm and with a forceful pull he made the older boy fall down on top of him.
“Jongin what the hell!” Kyungsoo yelled, obviously not very comfortable with laying on top of his very drunk friend. “Let me go!”
“No! Not until you answer the question, or forfeit and accept a dare instead.”
“I have no answer to give you!” Kyungsoo groaned, trying to wrestle his way out of the dancer's tight grip. “I've grown up? I've been busy with school? I really don't know what you're after here, I'm sorry. If I accept the dare, will you let me go? This is getting weird.”
“Okay then. Getting weird, huh? Not a problem to me. I dare you...” Jongin said, and paused mid sentence to lick his lips. “to kiss me.”
Silence.
“Why… Why the hell would I do such a thing?”
More silence.
“To prove you're still the same, reckless and fun old Soo. My best friend Soo, the one whose face I've always wanted to put a smile on, or whatever. Come on. Prove it.”
Heavy breathing.
“You're an idiot. A drunk idiot.”
“I also happen to be your best friend. Sucks to be you.”
More heavy breathing.
“Oh what the hell.”
Kissing Jongin was definitely not what Kyungsoo expected it to be. It wasn't like fireworks went off and the whole world suddenly made sense, like you'd see on TV. Of course, the couples you'd see on TV were in love, and Kyungsoo wasn't in love with Jongin. They were best friends since childhood that hadn't seen each other in four years, so of course the experience would be different.
But even though there weren't any fireworks and no moment of epiphany, it felt good. In fact, it felt very good. Jongin's lips were soft and gentle and fit perfectly against Kyungsoo's own. And even though the kiss was not that deep, their lips barely even touched, the older boy closed his eyes and got lost in the epic moment. The epic moment of two boys drunkenly letting their lips touch, laying on a tiny dorm room bed after midnight.
They broke apart after a few seconds and Kyungsoo almost didn't dare to open his eyes. Jongin was laying completely still and one could have mistaken him for being asleep if it wasn't for the fact that he still had Kyungsoo's wrists in a firm grip.
“Happy?” Kyungsoo asked, putting in one last effort to break free and get off of Jongin but without result. Dancers and their muscles, this was completely unfair.
Jongin muttered something Kyungsoo didn't even try to decipher.
“I said, are you happy? Have I proven myself?”
“I guess.” Jongin muttered, the alcohol on his breath hitting Kyungsoo's face as he spoke.
“Okay. Am I free to be let go now? I'd say the game is over, and I won.”
“Whatever.” Jongin finally let go of his wrist, but Kyungsoo didn't roll off. Good thing he was rather petite, otherwise Jongin would have been suffocated long ago.
A moment of silence followed and Jongin finally opened his eyes.
“Aren't you going to get off me and go to sleep?” he asked.
Kyungsoo, however, did not. Going back to sleep at this point somehow felt anticlimactic and he was busy trying to figure out why. His mind was racing and so was his heart, and it was all because of that stupid kiss. The stupid, idiotic, awkward, forced kiss.
And yet, it had felt good. Very good.
So he made a decision.
My god, was he going to regret this tomorrow.
“No. I have a better idea. Truth or dare, Jongin?”
Jongin sighed. “You've already won. Didn't you want to go back to sleep?”
“There's no way to win this game, Jongin.”
“But you just said...”
“Truth or dare. Come on. I'm not getting off until you play at least one more round.”
Jongin looked at Kyungsoo in disbelief. He evidently had no idea what was going on his best friend's mind, and Kyungsoo wouldn't want it any other way. This was a stupid idea, holy fuck. But it was too late to back out now.
“Truth.” Jongin finally answered, locking eyes with Kyungsoo. They were still dim, but they had no trouble focusing. His pupils were enormous, making the eye appear darker and deeper and not the gentle brown Kyungsoo was used to.
“Do you want to kiss me again?” Kyungsoo asked.
The reply came right away.
“Yes.”
This time, the kiss was not gentle. It was clumsy and deep and larger than life.
Kyungsoo was experiencing so many sensations at the same time. He felt his teeth crash into Jongin's and he got goosebumps when the younger boy's hands ran through his hair. Jongin's entire body began to move beneath him when Kyungsoo dared to suck on his lower lip and for a split second he was terrified but he relaxed when Jongin suddenly flipped him over and reversed the position. Jongin was pressing down on him, and Kyungsoo was desperately trying to catch some air but he didn't want to let Jongin's mouth go. He took the chance of inhaling deeply when Jongin stopped kissing him for a second, only to proceed with kissing Kyungsoo's neck. Kyungsoo felt the warmth in his stomach start to spread and when the younger boy's hips ground against his own he threw his head back into the pillow.
There was absolutely no way to back out now.
Jongin's mouth finally returned to Kyungsoo's and the younger boy's tongue found its way around inside Kyungsoo's mouth with ease. Jongin's hands were still weaved into the older boy's hair but he quickly withdrew them in order to keep his balance. Not only did Kyungsoo's stomach feel like it was on fire, but his brain was on the verge of being overheated as well. And who could blame him? Here he was, making out with his best friend in his dorm room at 2 AM. How it had come to this he had no idea, asking if they should kiss again had happened on a whim. Jongin was excused, he was drunk, but Kyungsoo was really out on thin ice here. Was it enough having enjoyed the first kiss? And why did he have to prove himself? If there was a way to no-homo this he would happily take suggestions from the crowd at this point.
But there was no crowd. He was alone. With Jongin.
Jongin suddenly sat up, causing Kyungsoo to look up at him. Why had he suddenly stopped?
“Truth or dare, Soo?” he asked.
“Truth.” Kyungsoo said, slightly terrified since his brain had run out of capacity to calculate where this was going. At this point he was running on autopilot. His body was flying this plane right now and it had no training what so ever.
It was terrifying.
“Would you… Would you mind if I took off my shirt?”
The silence that followed was more unbearable than all the awkward silences they had already endured that night combined. Kyungsoo's body made him give an answer that wasn't very well thought through.
“No?”
Jongin smirked, something that made Kyungsoo's abdomen burn. What the hell was he doing? He should have said yes, that would be a very bad idea, let's go back to sleep. He could've said that. But he hadn't. Why hadn't he said that? He had always valued logic and brains and there was absolutely zero logic behind making out with his childhood friend. Why suddenly start to trust his gut and body instead? This was getting ridiculous and Kyungsoo was definitely not the ridiculous type.
But when Jongin removed his plain, tight, white shirt, revealing golden marvellously sculptured abs, he gave up trying to make sense of his thoughts. If his body wanted this so badly, he might as well give it tonight. He reached out and allowed his fingertips to gently stroke Jongin's stomach, making the boy on top of him laugh.
“Your turn, Soo. Ask me.” he smiled, leaning forward into the touch.
“Truth? Dare?” Kyungsoo managed to say, but his stomach was in free fall and it was in fact very hard to focus at this point. Coming up with a question or a dare that would not make things escalate like crazy seemed impossible. And maybe that was the point.
“Dare.” Jongin declared. “What do you want me to do? Just name it.”
“You're crazy. This is crazy.”
“Yes. So? We're young. Let's just be crazy tonight. Or, we can stop if you want to. But I don't think that's on the table, am I right?”
“You know me better than I know myself.”
“And I take great pride in that, you know. Now. Give me a dare.”
“Fine. I dare you to… Be crazy. And don't stop.” Kyungsoo's words caused Jongin to giggle.
“Who's being an idiot now?”
“I still firmly believe that it's you. It's always been you.”
“For fucks sake, Soo. Don't get all cheesy on me. Just shut up.”
Jongin lowered his upper body and his mouth went straight for Kyungsoo's neck, causing the latter to let out a low moan. The look on Jongin's face was one of surprise and Kyungsoo instinctively raised his hand to cover his mouth. But Jongin caught it mid-air and pushed it down above the older boy's head. Jongin also decided to lick his lips again, something that made Kyungsoo's face flush and his mind keep on racing. Exactly how was Jongin going to interpret his words? How crazy was he going to get?
He did not have to wonder very long, because with his free hand Jongin had already started to lift up Kyungsoo's shirt as well. The latter showed no resistance when it slipped over his head and when Jongin momentarily let go of his hand in order to throw the shirt on the floor he took the chance to weave it into Jongin's hair. His soft brown locks were barely long enough to catch in a firm grip, but that didn't stop Kyungsoo from trying and this time it was Jongin who let out a pleased moan when Kyungsoo pulled his head back down and softly sucked on the other boy's lower lip.
When Kyungsoo had pictured his first time getting undressed in front of someone he'd always imagined it differently. He'd definitely not pictured it to be with his best friend, but that was shockingly enough not what he was pondering at this moment. He 'd always been afraid of how embarrassed he was going to be about someone seeing his, let's admit it, not very fit body. He wouldn't be considered conventionally attractive and he'd always been terrified that the pressure was going to keep him from enjoying the experience to its fullest.
But at this point a switch had been flicked and for the first time in his life Kyungsoo was starting to stop thinking all together. Screw all the negative thoughts, screw the doubts, screw the over analysing, screw the fear of messing up their friendship. Jongin was there and apparently he wanted to screw him. Ironic, wasn't it?
He was so screwed.
And he was going to get screwed.
By his best friend.
Who was a boy.
And who was extremely drunk.
Just before his mind shut down completely, something finally clicked.
“Wait, wait. Please.” Kyungsoo managed to let out and Jongin's lips leaving his own made his entire body ache, but he had no choice.
“What's wrong?” Jongin asked with eyes darting over Kyungsoo's face, then down his body to fixate on the awkward bulge in Kyungsoo's boxers for a few seconds before going back up to lock eyes.
“I want this. Believe me, I want this to happen. More than anything, strangely enough. But you are a little bit drunk.” Kyungsoo said under his breath. Jongin gave him a loo of confusion and Kyungsoo took the chance to finish what he wanted to say. “So I'm going to give you one last chance to back out. Maybe you won't even remember all of this in the morning?”
“Yeah, so?”
“No, you don't know what you're saying. So this is how we'll do it.” Kyungsoo pushed Jongin off himself and his body immediately protested but he ignored its silent screams for more physical contact.
He then reached for the lamp cord and turned out the lights. He also made sure to lay on his side, back towards Jongin.
“I'm going to say goodnight to you now. And if you still want to do… Whatever we've been doing the last couple of minutes then… Then let me know. And we'll go crazy. Just let me count to a hundred fist and see if you fall asleep.”
He didn't dare to turn around and look at Jongin. Not that he would see him anyway, the room was pitch black. But still. And so he started to count.
Jongin hadn't moved an inch. His heavy breathing was following the pace of Kyungsoo's counting.
“One… Two… Three...”
Nothing whatsoever.
“Twenty-two… Twenty-three...”
Kyungsoo could feel how Jongin moved a little.
“Forty-four...”
He could feel Jongin's breath on his neck.
“Forty-nine...”
It took all the willpower he could master not to turn around and press his lips against Jongin's.
“Sixty-two...”
Jongin's hand was on Kyungsoo's shoulder.
“Eighty-five..”
Jongin's hand was moving across Kyungsoo's shirtless torso.
“Ninety...”
The fire in Kyungsoo's stomach was back, his body more yearning than ever.
“Ninety-five...”
Jongin's hand was stroking the waistband of Kyungsoo's boxers.
“Ninety-six...”
Jongin's lips pressed against his neck and he almost stopped counting, the sensation making him want to moan.
“Nine… Ninety-seven...”
Kyungsoo felt Jongin's tongue slip out, just for a second, teasing him. Goosebumps spread over his skin.
“Ninety-eight...”
The younger boy's hand had found its way into Kyungsoo's boxers, gently caressing his hip.
“Ninety-nine...”
That hand was so close to where he wanted it now. His body was tingling with powerful shock waves.
“A hundred…”
Kyungsoo carefully shifted onto his other side and Jongin immediately withdrew his hand from his boxers, only to let it find its way back to Kyungsoo's waist. The dark state of the room kept the naughty smile that was dancing on Jongin's lips almost completely veiled.
“Goodnight, Jongin.”
“Goodnight, Soo.”
“Have you decided? Do you want to go to sleep now?”
“You wish. The night is still young.”

11.35 PM - Kyungsoo
“I can't sleep.”
Kyungsoo was resting his head on Jongin's naked chest, its slight movements up and down causing him to only be moments away from entering dreamland when Jongin's voice brought him back. He let out the deepest of sighs.
“Well I can, so please let me do so.” he hissed back at Jongin, not even bothering with opening eyes.
“It's not even past midnight yet.” Jongin whined and raised the arm not wrapped around Kyungsoo to ruffle the older man's untidy hair. “You're such a grandpa already, I can't believe it.”
Kyungsoo sighed once again and repositioned himself, allowing his head to rest a little bit higher on Jongin's torso. He then turned his head and gave Jongin's neck a soft kiss before returning to his usual sleeping position.
“You still behave like a teenager sometimes.” he mumbled. “How can you possibly be 30 already?”
“Growing old is mandatory. Growing up is a choice.” Jongin wittily responded with a quote that sounded painfully familiar but Kyungsoo could not seem to place at the moment.
“You're an idiot.” Kyungsoo mumbled and gently allowed his hand to trace down Jongin's biceps. Its feather light movements caused Jongin to giggle.
“That tickles, Soo! If you make me laugh now you'll only have yourself to blame if I keep you up for another hour.”
“Well, you're going to be held accountable for ruining my night's sleep in any case. We both have to get up early tomorrow, you know.” Kyungsoo reminded him, easily defeated as he opened his eyes in order to give Jongin a kiss on the lips.
Jongin responded immediately, eagerly kissing back and probably feeling very sly. He knew exactly which buttons to push in order to make Kyungsoo comply. They hadn't been together for so many years and had nothing to show for it, thank you very much.
“Hey Soo?” Jongin managed to say between the sloppy kisses. “Do you remember when we used to play truth or dare?”
Kyungsoo pulled back and wrinkles suddenly graced his forehead.
“I would say that it's very hard to forget, Jongin. Especially the rounds we played when you came to visit me when we were both in our final years of college.”
“True, true.” Jongin laughed and snatched another kiss before he spoke again. “We were really in denial back then, huh? Claiming it was just a game seems like an idiotic excuse to fool around when you look at it in hindsight, doesn't it?”
“It really does.” Kyungsoo stole another kiss. Then another one. And one more. Jongin's lips were so soft, he would never really wrap his mind around the fact that he could kiss them whenever he wanted to. That they belonged to him, and only him.
“So what do you think? A final round? For old times sake?” Jongin smiled and it took Kyungsoo a few seconds to process this and realise that Jongin was actually being serious.
“And why the hell would I want to do that? If I remember correctly, making out and having sex was great, but then we didn't talk about what our feelings actually meant until years later! It was incredibly confusing, Jongin, and I'm still not completely over it.”
“I get that, but come on! Look at where it got us. You have to admit, that damn game eventually forced us to confront our feelings.”
“After years in denial.” Kyungsoo muttered.
“For old times sake.” Jongin said once again, this time while gently caressing Kyungsoo's cheek.
Kyungsoo stole a final, deep kiss. Jongin's mouth tasted of toothpaste and Jongin and warmth and it was enough for Kyungsoo to completely surrender himself to Jongin's ridiculous games.
“Truth or dare, Jongin.” he said and positioned himself on top of Jongin. He relaxed his muscles, laid down and put his hands under his chin, looking up at Jongin's beautiful face.
“Truth.” Jongin whispered and Kyungsoo had totally seen this coming, so he had already thought of a question. As long as he could stay on top of Jongin like this, Jongin wouldn't be willing to accept nor give a dare that would force them to get out of bed. Right now the world was at peace. Hopefully it could stay that way until tomorrow, cause once morning came a new chapter of their lives was about to begin.
“Tell.” Kyungsoo smiled.
“Me.” He licked his lips.
“The.” He let out a deep breath and left his moth hanging open for a few seconds.
“Truth.” He licked his lips once more and much to his delight he could feel Jongin's body twitch beneath him.
“Yes?” Jongin could barely speak at this point, his pupils growing bigger by the second.
“Will you still love me when I'm old and fat?” Kyungsoo asked and after a second of silence he burst out laughing. Jongin threw his head back in disappointment.
“Well, I seriously doubt you'll ever be fat. But of course I will. I would never have given you this if I wasn't planning on it.”
Jongin entwined both of their hands and brought them to his mouth so he could kiss the thin, thin ring of silver Kyungsoo wore on his left hand.
“Fair enough.”
“My turn. Truth or dare, Soo?”
“Truth.”
“Then tell me this. When did you realise you loved me? Like, really, really loved me?”
“You want me to give that away already? Can't you wait twelve hours so you can hear it in my big speech tomorrow?” Kyungsoo teased. Keeping his eyes locked on Jongin's he bowed his head and kissed his boyfriend's chest.
This caused Jongin to giggle and the way his skin wrinkled around his eyes lit a fire in Kyungsoo's stomach.
“Touché, my dear. I've changed my mind. Another question then. Are you okay with your mom not attending the ceremony tomorrow?”
Even though Jongin's voice was soft, his question was rock hard. Reluctantly, Kyungsoo nodded his head.
“Yeah. It's better this way. Your close family and our best friends. That's more than enough for me. But honestly, as long as I have you that's all the family I need.” he whispered and suddenly there was no more need for words.
Kyungsoo pressed his mouth against Jongin's, drinking in the other man as if he had been denied quenching his thirst for years.
They had kissed so many times in their days. Some kisses had been carefree, some careful. Some rough, some tender. Some had been prompted by the silly game they used to play and some had been on the cheek and stolen while the other was asleep. But they had all meant something.
They had all meant the world.
The talk they'd had about their feelings had, believe it or not, also been prompted by that stupid game they used to play. Kyungsoo had been the brave one, asking Jongin about where this was all going during a round they played during his last year in college. It hadn't been easy and there had been a lot of yelling that night, but eventually they had ended up together in Kyungsoo's tiny bed, desperately clinging to each other and not letting go even when the sun rose the next day. That was going to be the first and last day Kyungsoo ever skipped a class, and much to his surprise he would find that he should never regret it.
But it was Jongin who had popped the big question last year. Would Kyungsoo possibly be willing to spend the rest of his life loving him?
The answer had of course been yes.
Kyungsoo's hands were once again intertwined with Jongin's, pressed down in the sheets above Jongin's head. The taste of toothpaste had faded but even when he tasted like sleep, kissing Jongin was delightful. Kyungsoo gently ground down, pressing against Jongin and he was rewarded with a soft moan which was muted by Kyungsoo's own mouth.
“See? Not sleeping was a great idea, admit it.” Jongin said, voice suddenly raspy and if Kyungsoo wasn't filled with desire before he'd surely driven off the cliff by now. That hoarse voice had him trapped and he cursed Jongin for pushing his buttons like this.
“You're the worst.” he managed to get out. “What happened to the game?”
“I won.” Jongin smiled, his hands breaking free and travelling down Kyungsoo's back to gently grab his ass. Kyungsoo let out a cry of surprise, but ground his hips against his fiancé's once more.
“You didn't. There's no way to win, idiot.”
“I wasn't talking about truth or dare, Soo.” Jongin whispered, letting his hands travel back up his fiancé's back. “You're not sleeping, right?”
“Good thing you're so sexy, otherwise I would've left you for the guest room hours ago.” Kyungsoo glared at him and kissed his neck, but was careful not to leave any marks. He didn't want the photos taken tomorrow to feature something so vulgar. After all, they were going to be a memory for life.
He slowly made his way down Jongin's torso, making sure to not leave any bit of skin unkissed.
“I love you so much, Jongin. I can't wait for tomorrow.”
“Me neither. I love...”
But Jongin didn't get any further than that. The door to their bedroom suddenly swung open and in ran Jongin's best friend Sehun. He covered his eyes with one hand and managed to fall down when he tripped over the threshold.
“AHA! I KNEW IT!” Sehun screamed while lying on the floor, not removing his hand from his face. “THE GUEST ROOM WAS EMPTY! JONGIN, YOU HAVE TO MOVE RIGHT NOW! IT'S BAD LUCK TO SEE EACH OTHER THE DAY OF THE WEDDING AND I SWEAR TO GOD, IF YOU FALL ASLEEP TOGETHER THEN THAT IS TOTALLY GOING TO RUIN EVERYTHING YOU'VE BEEN WORKING FOR!”
Kyungsoo rolled off of Jongin in a heartbeat, shook to the core by the uninvited visitor. Jongin pressed his palm against his forehead, not as startled by the screaming man on the floor as his fiancé.
“That key was supposed to be used for emergencies only. You can't just break in in the middle of the night to see where I'm sleeping!” Jongin exclaimed. Kyungsoo was busy with covering himself with the sheets even though he was still wearing his pyjamas. “You can remove your hand now, we're decent. I promise.”
Sehun looked up at them and let out a big laugh. He was dressed in a tracksuit that looked so tacky it actually seemed fashionable. Kyungsoo had never really understood how people pulled off clothes like that, but of course he expected nothing less from a guy with over three million Instagram followers.
“Jinxing your future marriage would be considered a huge emergency in my book.” Sehun stated, rising from the floor and walking over to the bed. “Come on, the guest room is waiting. I'll be sleeping on your couch to make sure you don't sneak back in here. This is for your own good.”
Jongin didn't even struggle when Sehun grabbed his hands and started escorting his best friend out of the bedroom.
“Can I please have one final word with my fiancé, mister wedding planner? I promise it'll be quick.”
Sehun sighed, but let go of Jongin's hands.
“I'll go get some covers and extra pillows for the couch. No funny business.”
“You're being ridiculous.”
“You signed a contract when you made me the wedding planner, remember?”
“I must've been drunk when I agreed to that, although I have to say you've done a great job so far.”
“Why, thank you. Have a great night's sleep, both of you. I'll wake you up tomorrow at separate times, don't worry. I've got it all under control. See you tomorroooooooooooooow!”
Sehun blew Kyungsoo a kiss and disappeared down the hallway. The minute he was out of sight Jongin ran back to the bed and gave Kyungsoo a deep, pleading kiss.
“In 24 hours he will be completely powerless again, I swear.” Jongin muttered and Kyungsoo let out a laugh.
“Sehun? Powerless? What universe do you live in and would you please take me there?”
“You know, maybe he's right for once. Seeing you tomorrow, dressed in a suit… It does add a little more excitement, doesn't it?”
“You're an idiot. I'll agree to it on one condition though.”
“Your wish is my command.” Jongin said, a cheeky grin gracing his gorgeous face.
“Truth or dare? Say dare.” Kyungsoo said, unknowingly licking his lips and thereby probably sending Jongin's stomach into free fall.
“Dare?”
“I dare you to promise me something. Something that I've somehow forgotten to put in my vows for tomorrow.”
“Anything.”
“I dare you to promise me that this will be the last night we spend apart.”
Jongin leaned in and kissed Kyungsoo. Their lips didn't part for what seemed like hours.
“I accept your dare. I love you. See you tomorrow.”
Jongin then stood up and left the room, slowly closing the door without taking his eyes off Kyungsoo. Just before the door closed, Kyungsoo called out to his future husband one last time.
“Goodnight, Jongin.”
The reply was given in a low voice and although Kyungsoo couldn't see him because of the closed door, he knew that Jongin was smiling.
“My dearest Kyungsoo. Goodnight.”
