I realize I've never fully explained this biz

I've been doing fall auditions in New York every year since 2002, so it's kind of old hat to me. Those that have seen me through that pretty much know the drill. But I've never really explained the why behind it. oslo asked: Is this an annual migration for singers? It seems like you're hitting a whole slew of auditions in a very narrow period of ( Read more... )

I have begun to realize, although I am a singer, I really don't want the kind of life you're describing. I have no ambitions to sing at the Met, or internationally, or ever have or need an agent. I want to be as good as I possibly can be, of course, but I don't particularly desire to be famous, or have a billion CDs, or not have a real home because of so much travel and auditioning. I would be happy being involved with companies like OLO for the rest of my life and that's it, and when I'm not doing rep theatre making a decent living doing something else, preferably something useful, like ... a clerk, or police officer or something. And really, that's what I want. It's probably easier to get, too. Ok, I still want to be in really good productions of Die Zauberflote and Lucia di Lammermoor (as the Queen and Lucia of course). But otherwise, smaller (but still awesome) stuff I am quite content with.

Again, I just want to say I have much admiration for both the business like organization you put into this, as well as the sheer numbers you tackle, and the professional way you keep plowing through until you get parts :)

If you ever get down around my way, to/from some place- would luv to take you out for foodage and catch up :)

Take care of you!!!
*hugs*
