Dream a little dream...of me...

So, I started off the New Year spending a chunk of time on client/professional development.  I updated my LinkedIn profile, asked a happy client for a recommendation/testimonial to post in various places, re-subscribed to an attorney-only discussion group, and spawned an embryonic Twitter feed for commentary on legal issues.

There are two goals... ( Read more... )

Good luck with this. And let me know if I can help somehow. I hope I won't have many friends I can refer to you -- life is going better if one doesn't need a family-law lawyer. But I have the impression you're good at what you do, and I'd be glad to see you get more clients/independence/security.

Thanks - I know you already have. I also do more than family law (although it is my favorite area) so don't let that stop you from passing my info around.

So how would you describe the range of what you do? The more specifics I know, the more able I am to do pattern-matching when opportunities arise.

Let's see...family law, all kinds, and the branchings-off of abuse protection issues (both seeking and defending), criminal defense (domestic A&B), representing caregivers coping with DCF, and crafting alternative legal structures in support of alternative family structures (trusts, powers of attorneys, and the like). Small trusts & estate planning (I refer out for the complicated work), in-court probate work for small- to medium-sized estates ( ... )

Thank you! This is very helpful -- both the list of what you've done and the list of things that require a specialized practice.

I hear you about the real estate-related law sometimes being as messily emotional as family law. After nine years on the board of an 11-unit condo, there is no way I would ever consider living in a 2-unit condo, except perhaps with close friends who are verging towards family status anyway.

I know you need to be careful about how much you share about cases. But I wish you luck in that Foreign Claims Act case if you take it, and the family luck either way. And thank you for the work with refugees.

January 1 is a day for dreaming, right?

Yes. Although if you are me -- which thankfully, you aren't -- it's just as likely to be December 21 or January 3rd or June 17. Because I'm not quite in synch, or something. **chuckle**

Good plans, you!
