Lots of layers, mittens, hats, scarves. Don't spend more time outside than you need to. Having grown up here, I don't find it too bad usually. Some days it's ridiculous, like when it gets down to -30 with the windchill, but overall, there are ways to deal. I think it helps that I'm usually a very warm person, so I don't get cold as easily. We get the extremes here - -30's with the windchill in the winter, and then in the 90's plus high humidity in the summer (that I don't like...I don't do well in heat). I always love going places where people are all bundled up, and I'm in shorts.
