Secret fic exchanges

Dec 27, 2008 22:43

I participated in two this year, xmascookies and sekrit santa bitch (just a mini one!). I'll post my stories tomorrow from both, so I have everything nice and neat on this here journal, but I sort of wanted to ramble a little now the reveals have been made.

For xmas cookies I wrote Mavid, and it was my first time ever writing that pairing. I hated writing ( Read more... )

writing, fic exchanges, fic blah, random

You don't give yourself enough credit, love. You're a wonderful author, and I've enjoyed everything you've ever written that I'd have the privilege to read. Thank you for putting it out there this year - you did amazing work! *hugs*

Thank you honey. I didn't mean this to come across as woe is me, I suck or anything. :D In a way, I like stories more when I have to fight with them, although I need some time to recover! And honestly - I write for me, first and foremost, and the fact that you guys like it is awesome, but if no one read any of it I would still write it. That said, I'm thrilled you like my fic, and I hope you know I think exactly the same about you! ♥

I'm thinking about doing that fic roundup meme, just out of curiosity, which I guess you sort of did by sorting your fic journal. Because considering I hadn't written anything in ten years when I started this journal, I think I've written rather a lot since!

Oh, I hear you there. I wrote my first fanfic in August. Prior to that, I hadn't written a thing since 1999, and that was in the context of role-playing games. Poetry, short stories, things of that nature? We'd have to kick it back to 1993. (Eeeep!)

You weren't all "woe is me", per se, but I do think we underestimate just how good our own work can be until you're distanced from it a bit.

Yeah, I guess the problem is we're conditioned to think that bragging about our own achievements (or I am at least) is wrong, but distance definitely changes perspectives. I'm really proud of what I achieved this year. (Is this a bad time to point out I was eleven in '93 and writing faraway tree fic in my pink diary? :D)

*pounces upon you* In case you couldn't tell from my exuberant feedback, I adored the fic that you wrote for me. (And was dead wrong about the author; I thought that it was either Desi or Allie, even as I was going, "This is a fuck of a lot of Andy Skib, right here. Perhaps I should investigate the wee, bug-eyed dear further.") Between this fic and the fact that you basically seem to be made of puppies and sunshine and ass-kicking wrt the T_G wank of the last week or so, I'ma friend you, okay?

I'm so pleased you like it. When you commented to say you thought you knew who the author was, I had to restrain myself from commenting anonymously to say you didn't! Also, oy, no calling Andy bug-eyed on this journal, missy! You should totally investigate him more though; he's worth it. I needed someone who could be an outside perspective on the boys because neither of them were thinking particularly rationally, so I roped him in, and I'm pleased it worked. Also, being told I'm made of puppies and sunshine and ass-kicking has made my day! Friending you back! :D

I mean bug-eyed as a compliment, naturally. :)

Duuuuude. That fic (in case you couldn't tell from the comment I left there, and the other comment I left there, heeee) was seriously, seriously, awesome. I totally know what you mean, though, when fics are slow going. You know that one, with the Journey and the Archie and the Andy that I wrote? Yeah, that was like pulling teeth, for some reason, and it felt like it took forever (but it was really only a week, which is forever to write something to me) but it's probably one of my favorite fics of my own.

Anyway, the point is that that xmascookies fic is probably one of (if not my absolute) favorite of yours and I am sooo thankful that ficangel and angelicfruicake got you to write Mavid!

Yay, I'm delighted you like it! Your mavid fics are my very favourites in that pairing. And I love that fic, especially the archie and andy!

The Mavid did turn out great. I see what you mean about it being a tough pairing - there is a limited time frame and there are some great writers that have worked there.
And knowing who you were writing that one for obvs you want it to be perfect.
I suppose it is the deadline and other people relying on you - The single thing I have put off most and found the hardest was less than 500 words about Sixx being a cute puppy - because it was for the advent thing.

What about the Joey/Kyle fic ?
Machka was great when I was bugging her over fic, I was flaily and annoying too!
Tara is constantly laughing at me for Brit speak but I did explain why the no pants parties are much funnier to us and why Larry King's suspenders were so disturbing

why the no pants parties are much funnier to us

....I'd think that this sentence should read "no pants parties are much more fun to us." :D

I love Brit-speak (if you don't mind me calling it that), and I certainly don't mind giving anything a once-over for anyone who asks nicely. :) *pets you*

Oops - still catching up on stuff.
I did actually mean Haha funny but your version is better.

Ya Brit speak is probably best description english english just looks daft, "proper" english , which some people say is just so arrogant and imperialist, ick

I'm to much of a republican ( in the non political party sense) to say Queen's english, just yuck.

It's never just a once over though more like a 5 times over. LOl!
