 Apparently I spoke to soon.  I still got zero cake, but as they were leaving everyone came in, told a couple of lies and gave me awkward hugs.  It was the worst of both scenarios.  If they were not going to do anything for me, then I wish they had ignored the going away thing completely instead of making me smile through a bunch of crap
