Star Trek Fanfiction Pet Peeves

Alright, I know I should be posting actual fanfiction instead of rants (I know, I know, I should finish that Timeverse fic. Yeah, the lube thing is a problem pretty much across the board in slash fiction. I think mostly (although probably not entirely) it's fics that are written by people young enough to not have the experience with the human body to know better.

I'm a bit late commenting on this, but I was procrastinating doing homework, and that often leads to me browsing various fannish journals... :-) I just wanted to comment that I have a love-hate relationship with fandom pet peeves. Honestly, I think many of the things that bother me in one fanfic can be absolutely wonderful done WELL in another fanfic. I take the "not gay" K/S cliche for an example - I know there are quite a few stories that have employed this that I had to roll my eyes at, because it was just a milestone so the story could jump into the fantastic orientation-changing sex/love that was going to happen (you could see it coming from a mile away!). On the other hand, I remember reading at least one story that used this trope VERY well, and it was the basis for a long, deeply involving story of personal discovery AS WELL AS romance. I suppose, for me, it depends on how these cliches are used in the context of the story ( ... )
