The Timeverse is my favorite 'verse. I was completely new to the fandom and it is what really drew me in.

I think that you are right that this scene has a very different tone than Out of Time. So yes, this would have seemed jarring to the reader as a part of that. But this is perfect as a story on it's own in the 'verse. The tone fits with Kirk's confusion about Pon Farr and what is happening to Spock. It particularly illustrates well how jumbled Spock's mind is during this and *that* leaves Kirk without that anchor he was used to at that point.

I am so happy to see more of this 'verse!

I'm glad you wrote this! I really adore your Timeverse fics. They're one of the few I consistently reread. I like the way you've done pon farr and the plak-tow. You see a lot of fic where it's all fun and games but I like it when an author makes it dangerous and even frightening.

It was wise of you not to include it in the original fic, though! It would definitely jarred with the general mood.

I like it that you haven't romanticised Ponn Farr, that it's apparent why Vulcans would be a bit afraid and ashamed of this. It's not being entirely fun gives weight and meaning to Kirk's choosing to go through with this.

If there was anyone in the world he could allow to see him this vulnerable, it was Spock. Spock needed him, and Spock was worth the fear and the pain. Spock was worth this a hundred times over.
