Mmm, I *think* I read the Another wiki entry for the anime. If I did read the novel entry, it probably didn't make sense...^^;; At first I thought Mei was a ghost. In ep. 5 (or 4?) it's revealed she's human. That (and why the class did what they were "supposed" to) makes more sense.

I wonder what did happen with both Ritsuko and Reiko? Grandpa's comment had me thinking...

And Dad's phone call was odd - Why wouldn't Kouichi remember that? Then he changes the subject and they lose connection...

I thought Kouichi was more attracted to Mei - that's why he's paid attention to her from the beginning (imo). His aunt Reiko - I noticed him being uncomfortable around her, but I thought it was for another reason.

I am enjoying the series a lot more than I thought. I like the storyline, and it's making me think and try to puzzle it out.

^^; I didn't see anything for the anime which is why I ended up at the novel wiki page.

I'll have to double check stuff from earlier, but it's possible that he didn't feel comfortable because of what he wanted to talk to her about. He definitely has questions for her, but I don't think he's gotten around to asking them yet...

Lots of questions are definitely being brought up in this one. Definitely looking forward to the next ep but might skip watching it late at night. :P

I watched CR's sub. No, they didn't translate what the certificates were for. CR is hit and miss about subbing on screen text. If the text isn't emphasized (i.e. directly shown and focused on), CR assumes it's not important & won't sub it. However, CR did sub the ep 6 chart showing which family members were affected by the curse, thankfully.

The one on the left was awarded in Showa 55 (1980) for an entry by an elementary student in a national traffic safety poster competition, so presumably it would've been given to Reiko. The one on the right looks like it was awarded in a national Jr HS club competition in Showa 46 (1971) but I'm not seeing what it was for. Still the date of the certificate would mean it was given to Ritsuko.

Interesting. But I don't know if they have any significance to the mystery. They're a nice piece of setting because it's the sort of thing proud parents would put on wall. But in and of themselves, I don't think they add any pertinent information to the mystery.
