Yeah, my thoughts exactly. I was praying she'd hang in there until November, but no, 2020 strikes again. : (

I promptly donated $100 to Emily's List and kicked in another $50 to the Biden-Harris campaign, because if there wasn't already a need for Democrats to take both the White House and the Senate, there sure as shit is now.

Oh god, yes. Right now, I'm hoping against hope that a) Biden stops trying to appeal to the nearly-mythical swing Republicans and starts really reaching out to the actually-existing moderate and thinking progressives (hey, you know what I mean) and b) the Susan Sarandon/Ryan Knight Bernie Bro&Gal progressives stop levying purity tests and talking shit about undoubtedly-problematic-but-he's-all-we've-got-as-well-as-being-a-better-human-being-by-fucking-far Joe Biden and actually vote Democratic instead of sitting on their thumbs or voting Green.

Gaah, we don't need any purity ponies this election. If people don't vote for Biden, they're voting for Trump, whether they cast a ballot or not. And if they don't vote at all, they don't vote in the down-ballot elections, and that won't help the Democrats re-take the Senate. There are already enough impediments to voting for left-leaning folks (gerrymandering, voter suppression, etc); the last thing anyone should be doing is making it worse!

I love the term "purity ponies", and will try to use it in as many conversations as possible. Heh. And yes, it doesn't mind what high-minded arguments they toss at me, it comes down to "yeah, you're voting for Trump. Also, come a little closer, so I can punch you in the nose the moment you utter any variation of the phrase "Biden's no better than Trump".
