Cauliflower, Capons, Early Deadlines

I have just roasted cauliflower florets after tossing them with coarsely chopped garlic, red pepper flakes, salt and olive oil. It is really, really good. I don't know why I didn't think about roasting cauliflower before the age of 61. (Me, not the cauliflower.) I have a new side-dish for Thanksgiving!

We did Cornish game hens one year because I had them in the freezer and we were snowed in for the 10 days leading up to Thanksgiving and couldn't get out to get a turkey. It was a fun change. But we still got a turkey a week later when we could get out again.

Also, roasted cauliflower and broccoli is amazing. I don't even like cauliflower normally, but when roasted I actually do. I toss with olive oil and sprinkle with parsley, basil, oregano, thyme, salt, and pepper.

Yes, I understand this! The last couple of years, we've been taken out for Thanksgiving dinner by friends, which is lovely, since one doesn't have to cook for the holiday - but in both years, I've gotten a small turkey afterwards and cooked it. I suspect no holiday is a holiday, in my head at least, unless it allows for the possibility of post-holiday turkey sandwiches. Heh.

I had my first pickled cauliflower today - it was yum:)

Good luck with the deadlines! The anime should take the pain away?

Oh, pickled cauliflower is wonderful - crunchy, sweet-sour, altogether yummy! I think it was pickled cauliflower that allowed me to begin the long process of learning to like cauliflower in general

The anime took away the pain indeed. As for the deadlines? Let's not talk about them. Heh ....

We'll see how everything goes; perhaps a post-Thanksgiving report?

Trying to hang in there - you do the same, my dear!

*hugs back*
