My gastro guy once did the upper and lower at the same time and called it by some appalling nickname only funny to gastroenterologists who've clearly never had it done to them.

Unfortunately I can empathize with you as I have IBS and have had over a dozen lower ones done. I have found telling them to give me LOTS of demoral ahead of time helps. I get very very talkative and tell loads of jokes, then wake up in recovery remembering nothing.

Although yesterday wasn't completely satisfactory, the one good thing about it was that I was put almost completely under; far more than the moderate sedation or twilight sleep they used to give. Now the stuff is one step above "truly heavy surgery"-heavy sedation. So I was completely out for both procedures. I've had Demerol, and it does make one jokey and happy, but for me, it always ends up giving me a rebound headache, so I'm glad I got the almost-complete-sedation.
