Stress, Strawberries, Fried Rice and Fanfic

While painkillers and bossanova help me forget the incipient back spasm that is, even now, trying to decide whether it will come to stay awhile, I'll belatedly try to catch people up on life at Casa

Back pain - I do sympathise! I had something go in my lower back a couple of weeks ago, and while it's mostly better I still get pain if I've been sitting too long. Other than Robax painkillers (apparently only available in Canada), what helped most was the Robax lower back heat wrap.

This, on amazon.com, seems to be exactly the same product, just with a different brand name: Thermacare heat wrap. Worked very well for me.

I actually have a mild muscle relaxant called Robaxin (methocarbamol) that my doctor has prescribed. It helps, especially at night, allowing me to sleep. The heat wrap would be a wonderful thing, if the back spasm actually involved the lower back. Unfortunately, it appears to be a muscle, or set of muscles, lying, as far as I can tell, just over where my kidney sits, in the middle of my back.

Luckily, today, it's getting better; very probably because there's been a lessening of stress by off-loading some of my duties to the rest of the condo board.

I'd offer to bring over a couple of quarts of hot water, but I don't know how much help it would be.
Reminder -- if you don't take care of yourself, you can't take care of anything else.

Indeed; that situation is being addressed, and I'm faintly, cautiously hopeful that the hot water will also be addressed by the end of the week.

Going to see a doctor about the stress sounds sensible - see what they say. It's not a thing you can play around with & a couple of weeks off is much, much preferable to the longer times that can come if it's just ignored - because it is one of those things where you do feel silly. But you were getting those symptoms before the hot water fiasco, so I'd say go, go! *hugs*

Other than that, I hope you have hot water soon!! ♥

I'll bring folks up to date with another post, but I did get some time off, and I'm going to set up an appointment with my internist, who let me know she's available all week. The water? That's another story, but we may figure it out. Thanks for all the support and good wishes.

I think seeing someone about your ailments would be best, they might be able to do something for the back pain at least:(

Yup. I now have a renewed prescription for a muscle relaxant, I'm going to be talking to my internist very soon. I off-loaded some of the responsibility onto the treasurer this afternoon. I'll pick it up again when I can.

Many, many hugs. I hope that the hot water comes soon, and your stress decreases, and that if you need some time off, you're able to do so in way that truly gives you a break from stress!

Well, it looks as if the heat may come on Thursday, making it a two-week-plus kind of nightmare. But ... that's the situation and it can't be adjusted. Thanks for all the hugs, my dear - they do help!
