And it won’t dishonor those Americans who died in Afghanistan, in part because the principal languages of Afghanistan are Pashto and Dari, not Arabic.
I've been reading a lot of Tudor-era history and fiction these past couple of years, and I think many people in the US would be surprised to learn that at one time in Europe, it was illegal to own a Bible in your own language. It was illegal to translate the Bible into vernacular languages, to print up your translation, to distribute it to other people. If you were caught doing any of those things, you'd be burned alive. Literally.
A little historical perspective can sometimes be a marvelous thing.
