Oh, this is sad: Elmer Bernstein died. It's amazing how much he's contributed to popular culture. The Mag7 theme song will always be dear to my heart--although for reasons Mr. Bernstein might possibly not understand

Mmmm. Even though I *knew* you couldn't kill him off this was heart stopping. Lovely little vignette, nice characterisation, hurt, comfort, gambling, action *g* -- and all crammed into that little piece. Lovely. Thank you for sharing.

And I saw about Elmer Bernstein's death yesterday, and downloaded the M7 theme and listened for a while. It really was an exceptional, a defining piece of music. Every now and again someone writes a story so good I can almost hear the music as they ride off into the sunset. A sad thing indeed.
