Great chapter!! I can't believe, though that I'm now feeling sorry for Johar. I wanted to see him really suffer, but knowing what he's gone through with his training just took the wind right out of my sails. Interesting development.
In the grand scheme of things, it wouldn't change anything except to maybe make Johar more sad and probably bitter, and Gorlyn would be freakishly guilty like he is.
I find this chapter intresting on a few levels, you have created a human side to what appeared to be a character that was written just as an antogonist, and the reasons behind his beliefs give Gorlyn a chance to see behind and beyond whythis was happening to him. Gorlyn has a decision to make, whether to accept his previous beatings as just that, beatings or to see them as a method that was used to shape and create him as a valet worthy of serving Lord Neisk.
Thank you Johar was really never supposed to be anything more then just a boring addition to Neisk's life but he promoted himself to antogonist and then to human. He's so self promoting I have to get rid of him now before he takes over the whole damn story. He's already writing his whole life story in the back of my mind.
Aaah, I just finished reading the entire story so far. That was exactly what I needed this weekend.
So Johar turns out to be surprisingly loyal after all, interesting. I am guessing we will eventually find out what is behind Arnell's mock execution and conversion to slave? I also wonder what is behind Neisk's aversion to naked men.
I'm looking forward to seeing how things work out once Johar is gone. I am guessing it will shift a few things within the household.
We will find out about Arnell's mock trial and execution soonish. Neisk's aversion to naked men however is just a weird phobia. He has no rational reason for it naked men just make his skin crawl even seeing his own naked body in the mirror creeps him out.
There will be some expected and some unbelievable changes in the household with Johar gone.
Ah, thank you for clarifying. Weird phobia it is. (I thought maybe there was some trauma or other behind it, but yeah, people do have odd quirks. Also, huh, I just checked to be sure whether this was eventually going to be slash and you do say "mostly M/m". That'll be interesting then... *g*)
I based the phobia on two people I know. One is my husband he hates to see naked guys even just guys without their shirts. Although his isn't as bad as Neisk's.
the other person is my best friend for high school. She could not stand anyone seeing her naked not even herself. She would even kick her dog out if he followed her into the bedroom and she was going to change clothes. She's married now with a kid so I'm assuming she got over it or learned to deal with it.
As for slash Neisk and Gorlyn will never be slash. They are both straight and Neisk would never allow a guy to force himself on Gorlyn.
The slash in this story is limited to Tocus and Oriel, although Tocus does do women it's only if they let him fuck their ass he avoid the female reproduction area like the plague.

Well done, my dear, you've made me simultaneously despite and pity and want to cuddle someone. It's been a while!
In a way, I kind of like this better than Niesk finding out and raising hell, because Gorlyn gets through it on his own :D
