Jack is a good friend, to both of them. Even when, or maybe especially when, he'd like to be more he is willing to be what they need in the moment.

Yes, that's exactly the way I see Jack. He's generous and loyal, and he'll put his own needs behind when the Doctor and Rose need him. Hopefully, once he and Rose convince the Doctor that he's wrong, they'll also make it up to Jack. ;) Thank you!
