sensiblecat pointed me toward this series. This is beautiful.

“It missed you.”

I lie to him as much as to myself, because right now, neither of us can deal with the truth.

That struck me most of all. Interesting, too, because I heard that line as "I missed you"--unless you've reinterpreted it for this fic? :P But I love that idea, that she reassures him that way.

Off to read the rest...

I really heard it as "it missed you"... but I've seen it both ways in fanfic, so... :)
