No, no, no, no, NO! Just... no!

I really hope this ranting of mine isn’t going to become a series 4 habit. So far, I adored S4. It was, in fact, a match for S2 as far as I was concerned.

Well, that’s certainly not counting the last two episodes. Despite my lack of enthusiasm last week, I was hoping, somehow, that this second part would save the ( Read more... )

You're right about the shadows. I have to admit that I was so bored I really wasn't paying attention, but everywhere they went they'd have been in and out of shadows, even standing in each other's shadows. Just so not scary.

I wasn't all that fond of The Wasp and the Unicorn, but that feels like a classic of Who wonder compared to these two episodes. If it's a taste of things to come, I just hope the rest of this season is brilliant, because there's not going to be a lot to look forward to :(

Indeed. And that's very scary in itself. :(

Btw, is RTD still in charge of next year's special or does SM take over after the Christmas episode?

RTD is in charge next year, and is supposedly writing all the next episodes and the specials. So I've been told.

Okay. So I still have next year to get ready for the big change. Well, at least that's good news. :)

I found the last episode boring, and this episode, at least, was a little more interesting. I also liked River Song a smidge more, but considering how I felt about her last episode, that's not saying much.

But yes. Although CT did an excellent job, Donna was shunted off to the side and given very little to actually do.

And I very much doubt that we'll ever see River Song again. It just seems unlikely. The story is basically done, isn't it? And like you said, there are simply too many complications in bringing her back.

Yeah. And in a way, I'm glad we won't see her again, because I couldn't bring myself to care for her character, though, like you, she didn't irk me as much in this ep as she did in the last. But if we don't see her again, that leaves another loose end and put the Doctor through an emotional wringer for... well... nothing. I think my personal canon is going to happily ignore this two-parter from now on. *grins*
