Drop Spindle - Spinning Yarn - A New Adventure

My friend Michael, theyarnproject.live journal.com has been having so much fun learning new things that he has inspired me to venture into new territory.  I just ordered a Turkish Drop Spindle for Knit Picks and received it today along with two books - "Productive Spindling" by Amelia Garripoli and "Respect the Spindle" by Abby Franquemont.  I also ( Read more... )

I have a drop spindle which I have named Legion. He hates me and refuses to behave. I have thought of getting a turkish spindle to see if it handles better.

I do have 4 spinning wheels though that bring me lots of joy while Legion sits in the Yarn Sanctuary largely ignored by the bags of fiber in the closet.

I love Knit Picks, but sadly I have noted their prices for spinning accessories and fibers are not that great.

When you're ready to buy more, you may want to look at http://www.paradisefibers.net and http://www.thesheepshedstudio.com/ for better prices.

This is my favorite story. ;)

Thanks so much for the info and links. I decided to make the first order to Knit Picks since their books were 40% off and there are NO spindle books in our library - they have all been lost and charged out! I wanted to get to the $50.00 free shipping so decided to get the whole packet this time and then see if I really like it before spending more or having a greater storage problem.

Loved the story - I could just see them getting over-run with 'exploding' wool bales.

Hugs and happy stitching and spinning,

kae

First off: Thank you for the mention.
I am so glad that you are doing this. It sounds like you will have so much fun. Spinning sounds like such a blast. I think I may take it on, when The Yarn Project is over.
And, I am SURE you will pick it up. And, I fully expect to see pictures, of yarn, made by KAE!!!

Thanks for the confidence that I'll pick it up - you are more confident than I am at the moment. Starting is the difficult part.

Hugs and happy looming,

Kae
