I'm co-Municipal Liaison for our cities' NaNoWriMo region (which means that I help cybermathwitch herd the cats). I've done it 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2011 and have yet to "publish" any of it. I'm hoping to get over that this year!
(My other major WIP is a next gen story about what happens when Lily Luna, Harry's youngest is sorted into Slytherin but refuses to give up being friends with Hugo, a Gryffindor. Little darling revolutionizes the House system.)

These are letters to Neville from Ginny, written after Easter during Book 7, when she was back at home and he was still at Hogwarts. She never sent these letters.
you haven't published it because you have a hangup? I'm confused what you have to get over. Also, do you have to publish anything or is it just the exercise of writing all month and reaching a goal?
Only a hang-up in the sense that even though I write 50,000 words in a month successfully, I never really "finish." So I guess that's the part I want to "get over" -- the leaving things in perpetual WIP status forever.
The ultimate goal for NaNoWriMo is to write a story that is at least 50K words within one month. Just let loose and go. Some people write original fiction with the goal of getting commercially published (and some are successful, like the author of The Night Circus). I have only ever written fanfic (and so far that's all I've had the yen to write.)
To sum up: what I have to get over is my own bad self. Haha.
