word question

What officer in a club is the person responsible for answering incoming questions and sending things on to other officers if that's needed?

I mean, I know the secretary would do this in many groups, but I'm looking for something more...spiffy sounding :-)

Oh goodness! You know how much fun some people we both know have with a wicked turn of phrase. Even if you don't manage to come up with a more spiffy title the suggestions are bound to be a riot.

That sounds too geeky to me. Although I like the bilingual pun ("I owe you a major domo for all the work you've done!").

I like "liaison" as well, but "Communications Director" would also work.

On reflection, "liaison" usually implies a go-between, such as a representative of a group that otherwise wouldn't have representation (a student liaison on a teacher's board, for instance). I don't think that's quite the same thing.

Then again, "communications director" can imply someone who writes original documents for the group, rather than someone who responds to questions.

You could get all techie and go with something like "initial point of contact."

Liaison isn't quite what I'm looking for, but given the position I'm envisioning, it's not a bad word.

I think my comment to Lili, below, covers it best: this person's job in a normal company would be to say "front desk, how may I help you?"

Public Information Coordinator? Spokesman is kinda close, but again suggests more active going out and giving people info.

Here's an offering from Thesaurus.com for "spokesperson": agent, champion, delegate, deputy, mediator, mouth, mouthpiece, prolocutor, prophet, protagonist, representative, speaker, spokesperson, spokeswoman, substitute, talker

Maybe "Representative at Large"? That implies (a) the responsibility to act as a spokesperson and (b) the lack of any other specific duties.

What about Public Relations Officer or something like that?

Hrm. I think that's closer to what I want, but I envision a PR person actively seeking ways to promote something...and this is more like an official way to say "front desk, how can I help you?"

So more like Information Officer or a variant thereof?
