I'm thinking that the judicious application of John Watson is quite necessary, really. :P

Oh, have a wonderful time!!!!

My low back has flared up this week too - I am unamused. On the up side, the chiro has managed to help quite a bit, and I've been getting ultrasound treatments the last two days to help with swelling. If you need a chiropractor rec, let me know. My guy = awesome. :)

Re: John, you might be able to borrow him, but I think Sherlock would want him back eventually. ;)

So am I!!! We can be unamused together. (also, there have been tears.) I'm headed to the doctor in a couple of hours -- the lady was great about fitting me in. And I may have you send me that rec anyway. I'm sure if it lasts much longer I'll be at my wit's end.

Yeah, I think I'd have to work out a bit of a time share of sorts. ♥

Ugh, that sucks about your back! I have back issues and it can be so painful when that flares up. Do you think you pulled a muscle, or maybe herniated a disc? That is what happened to me several years ago, but there wasn't much they could do for me besides do an MRI and give me some pain meds, which barely helped anyway. It flares up sometimes if I lift something heavy without being careful. I remember the first morning waking up with that, I seriously thought that I had fractured my spine and needed to go to the hospital, it hurt that bad ( ... )

Usually mine only lasts a day or two and it'll be from sleeping wrong or pulling it during exercise, but that it's been several days is sort of freaking me out.

I've done some heating and some icing and it helps a little bit.

What does the pain feel like? Is it isolated or does it shoot down your butt and legs (sciatic pain)? Is it sharp or sore? I'm obviously not a doctor, but in my experience the bulging disc pain is usually very sharp and radiates down my hips and legs, usually more painful on one side. You might try some stretching and light exercises. After a workout, my trainer always had me bend over with my feet a few inches apart, and just told me to stand there with my hands dangling towards the ground, then let gravity do its work until my fingers were touching the floor. Stay there for as long as I was comfortable, then rise up again slowly. It was a nice stretch, and as I stood up I could feel the vertebrae sort of...stacking back up again. Anyway, that helps me sometimes. I do hope the doctor can help you. Mine was exceedingly unhelpful, even the spine doctor, which is why I never go back anymore when I pull something, but maybe yours can tell you what's going on and at least give you some medicine for it.

He thinks it's a particular joint at the base of my back, so I've got some exercises and will keep icing it (and resting this weekend). I'm determined to make it better, dammit. I'm hoping this helps alleviate it a bit more.

The lower back is the WORST! I had it go out twice where I was bedridden for days after. It is NOT fun. My boss is a physical therapist by training so I was not allowed to go to a chiropractor :) but I have some exercises if you want me to show you them... they work at relieving but even better at preventing them. The doctor should definitely help, if nothing else, he should give you some good drugs.

I'm going to see the doctor in a couple of hours -- the woman was great when I called and figured out how to fit me in. Hopefully he'll be able to help a bit. :)

I've been doing a wee bit of yoga and some other stretches to try to help. And resting. (but I'm not good at sitting still for long periods of time... :P)
