Mr Robot

So, this show happened.

Rarely does anything new on television grab my attention LIKE WHOA. Maybe one pilot each year, if that. (Fargo, I'm looking at you. I LOVE YOU. And "24," way back when. Talk about addictive.) Or more likely I'll catch a show I like after it's long gone (The Wire. Dark Angel (Season 1). Logan Cale is the anti-DiNozzo. Plus ( Read more... )

I had been trying to catch this show during it's run, but everything seemed to conspire against my actually watching it. Reading your comments has gotten me intrigued now, and I just realized Time Warner has all the eps on demand. So I'll get back to you after I watch them ( ... )

There are only 10 episodes, so it's super easy to get the whole season watched. Think it took me three weeks. I think it's a major win for the USA network, which has IMO sucked since Psych and Burn Notice ended. (Countless NCIS marathons not included.) ((Yeah! That's a show I forgot. Burn Notice. Really liked that show for it's sheer entertainment value. Plus, I loved how Michael was obsessed with yogurt.))

Breaking Bad was brilliant on so many levels. Who Walter White was, and then what he becomes... Wow, that was a journey. Strange how Jesse becomes, essentially, the moral compass of the series. At least in my opinion.

When does S2 of Fargo begin? This fall? OMG Billy Bob Thornton was PERFECT. As was everybody else.

I don't watch The Blacklist, though I've heard good things about it.

You know it took me a couple years of passively watching old episodes of NCIS to get me REALLY into it. But when I got into it... Well, pretty obsessed at this point. LOL Actually, it was the S7 premiere that did it for me.

I just googled it and Fargo S2 premieres on Oct 12th.
I started watching NCIS when the USA network started showing reruns of S1-4, during S5. So I was kind of late to the party, but once I watched a few marathons, and figured out who these characters were and what was going on, I got sucked in.

OMG, thank you so much for posting this. I've been debating about watching it, but just never got around to it. Life and work and writing obligations seem to be getting in the way of TV right now. So I tend to go back to shows that I know are going to be good on Netflix. But I appreciate your glowing review, so now I know it's worth my time to test it out. There's nothing worse than sitting down to watch a show and have it completely suck. (I made that mistake with Revolution a few years back). Oh wait, scratch that. The worst thing that happens is when you get invested in a show and it gets canceled for no real reason half-way through a season and you have NO idea how it ends. (Forever, Alphas and Emily Owens, MD, I'm looking at you.)

But I digress, haha. Off to watch Mr. Robot!

BTW, thanks for admitting you watched Wipeout. My husband's convinced that it got canceled because I was the only one who watched it. Hahaha.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. There will be a second season! Which it really needs, because... Well, you'll see.

There are a couple pilots I'm interested in watching this fall season, but who knows if they'll live up to expectations.

(Just remembered another show I forgot to mention. Sorry, I'm random. Southland. The ULTIMATE cop show. I remember when it was on NBC for one season. Then they did some weird rescheduling thing before canceling it. Luckily, TNT picked it up and it was brilliant for four more seasons. Loved that show. Regina King... The best.)

Yes, Wipeout! I remember when I first watched it, I was laughing so hard I cried. I didn't realize it was cancelled.

How weird that there is no robot in a show called Mr. Robot, haha. But it's good to know, for I'm someone to pick shows by title (same as with books and covers), so I passed on this one. Now I think I'll give it a shot sometime soon =)

So I had to go back and find this entry, just to say that after I read your thoughts about Mr Robot, I did go and find the eps on demand and watch S1. And I just wanted to say, thank you! The minute Elliot breaks the fourth wall and turns to the viewers to wonder if we're seeing what he is, I was in. "Please tell me you're seeing this, too". Then in the 7th or 8th ep the whole reality of Elliot's, and the viewer's, perception, is knocked on it's ass. Holy hell!
Today USA is re-running S1 again with comments by the show's creator and cast, and I'm seeing the millions of things I missed on first watch. This show is both thought provoking and FUN, and I haven't had this much fun watching a show in a very long time. So thanks again. I can't wait until next Wednesday when S2 starts. Hope you and Raju are having a great summer.

Hi Mel! I'm glad to hear you're having as much fun as I did with this show. It's just really well done! Earlier this evening, I sat down and caught the last few eps. Looking forward to S2.

Another suggestion for a summer show is "Brain Dead" on CBS. I've watched a couple episodes and it's unique and clever and... odd.

We're having a spectacular summer. Thank you for dropping a note. Hope yours is swell as well. Take care!
