Paid account?

Apr 28, 2009 05:21

Okay. So when I first signed up for LJ, I thought 'paid account? why would I get that? why bother when free accounts are just as good?'

so. Recently, I've been wondering if I should upgrade, mostly because of the prospect of having more icons, I'll admit. So, I ask my flist; is it worth a paid account?

Cheers

I'm very happy with my paid account :D Mostly because of the icons, obviously, but also because there are more layouts, no ads and... I don't know. I just feel like I need it XD

wellll, yes, it is cool but

the ads can be worked around, just find a layout you really like that works with ads (that's what I did)

as for the userpics, they are never enough, lol, just buy more userpic space

However there are things I miss, the ability to edit a comment is one of those *nods*

*hugs* hope it helps *G*

I think it is. I resisted for a bit, but editing comments is nice, as are the extra icons (which I don't use) and the extra layouts (ditto).

I dunno. I think if you spend your time on it, it's nice to have the extra options. But you can get around everything, really. Depends on whether you have the money and the inclination.

Things I like about my paid account:

1. Userpics
2. Making polls
3. ScrapBook (I could host things on my own website I guess, but it's a bit more of a hassle. I don't have PhotoBucket or ImageShack and don't want to.)
4. Editing comments (oh happy day when this was added as a feature!)
5. Filter my viewing of my own journal by security level/type on posts (i.e. I can view the posts I made to specific filters, my private posts only, etc.)
6. Custom moodthemes (like my Snape moodtheme or my MST3K moodtheme on my other journal)
7. Livejournal email address alias (esmestrella@livejournal.com forwards to my actual account email)
8. More canned journal styles
9. Expanding comment threads
10. Change security level on multiple posts at once

In terms of just features, I'd say it's worth it if you're anything more than just "eh, I post every now and again and I read a few dozen friends" kind of thing. Aside from that, I think the other two main reasons people don't buy accounts are 1) Can't afford it and 2) Philosophical differences, i.e. ( ... )

Yeah, the icons did it for me too! If you can afford it, why not!
