I watched the other girls tighten laces of their spikes and keeping their blocks ready. I had nothing to do and just waited for them to read out the names and the track numbers. Hey Arun, thanks.
Oh you know in my 1st year of Engineering, after 3 years, I tried to get back into athletics. Myself and a girl from hostel used to get to the football ground in college early in the morning and it lasted a week! As you know there was hardly any encouragement in college at that point of time, moreover I too got busy with too many things. I don't regret, i am happy with whatever I could do :)

I was to run bare foot and without blocks or any other accessories.
I can imagine you telling your grandchildren: "In those days..." ;-)

could not resist saying this after the above comment..
I can imagine my grandchild bragging to his friends "my grandpa knew that famous lady who keeps coming on TV and newspapers." :D

Hope you were able to capture the spike this time around.. Even otherwise, it will just be a local maxima, losing which, will help you in easily capturing the global maxima as you are already aware of how to capture it.. :)

Btw, what exactly is a heat? Google was not very helpful..

but the big question is how do you find out when to give up and when to push harder, for what might often look like a hopeless battle might be just needing a bigger application of human will, enterprise and initiative to give way.
