Scuze me if I'm dumb, but why not just use PhotoBooth, if you're using a mac?

Because it doesn't actually function as a photobooth? It's a cool program, but it's just that: a desktop computer program. Not an appliance.

I got the same bounce-and-quit behavior, and had to recompile the release target with the executable's working directory set to "~" to get it to run.
