1. Someone who has a portfolio with tons of past work.
2. Neither
3. My ideas, I'd like him/her to be able to understand what I want and make my ideas into reality!
4. Yeah I'd hire someone based on a great portfolio... well it depends on what you consider a great portfolio though. I'd like to see examples of stuff they've done. I wouldn't require references...
5. Great designer PLUS not expensive! If the designer does a really good job, whatever he/she charges will seem worth it!

thank you. =)
i agree, a great portfolio with a variety of work is key, and really understanding the client. we're taught in school that the only place we can truly live out our design vision is exactly there, in school. outside, it's all about the clients!

1. I would look at their past jobs and see where their inspriation came from. Price might also be a factor but it would depend on what I was asking for.

2. JJS Studio Design

3. I would want there to be a collaboration of the two. I would want my ideas present in the project but I would also like my designer to throw some of their ideas out because they have probably seen / heard of things that I haven't.

4. If their work amazes me I would go with them despite the lack of references. It is also about how they carry themselves, if they seem like someone I would want to work with then I would.

5. Sometimes it can and depending on how much it cost I might go with the cheaper designer. But if I did that I wuold see if they could incorporate some of the work of the other desginers work into the final product.

1. Asks a lot of questions so he/she gets a firm sense of what i want.
2. JJS, just because of the words Design studio
3. Run with my ideas of course!
4. I would, at a slightly discounted rate.
5. Finances always sacrifice for quality. There is a fine line on the return, especially when you get very high up on the price range.

1. if you were to hire a designer, what would you look for?
portfolio, client list, pricing, references

2. just based on the company name alone, who would you pick: fe-niks or JJS Studio Design
JJS Studio Design- your name should tell ppl what you do.fe-niks won't mean anything to anyone and would be harder to remember.

3. would you want the designer to run with their ideas on a project or run with your ideas as a client on a project?
they would have to incorporate my ideas (well actually H's. haha)

4. new designer with a great portfolio of independant work but no references, do you hire them based on their work alone?
tough one. the price would have to be super good (meaning great value)

5. designer does great work but costs an arm and a leg vs an ok designer who charges far less? does finances effect sacrifices in quality?
i'd go for someone in between those extremes a good combination of quality and price. quality is still really important regardless of price. people will be looking for the best value.

1) Good portfolio, reasonable prices
2) JJS Studio Design. What does fe-niks mean?
3) Both, I tell them the concept, they run with it
4) I would hire them based on work and price
5) ok designer who charges far less

Good luck!
