I find it funny that these many of these so called "Protectors of Marriage" have gone thru several divorces or have been caught having affairs. Personally I think they are afraid that gays will set the better example in regards to marriage (somethign Dolly Parton said a while back)
Rob and I have been together for 4 years and have been married for 2.
What I hate about the issue the most is the fact it's used to distract people from very serious problem that are affecting the country.
"Vote for the other guys and flag--burning, pot-smoking, gay-marrying people will ruin your life. Pay no attention to the crippling deficit, endless war, arbitrary executive power, and spiraling gas prices."
Personally, I am for the idea of Gay marriage or at least something that would allow for the same legal rights when it comes to children, hospitals, and job benefits.
I fear the arguement has gotten so divided (and bitter) on this and the immigration issue that the idea of "camps" may happen down the road.
One of Halliburton's subsidiaries (what a surprise) recently received a contract worth nearly $400 million to construct huge "detention centers." Their purpose is unspecified -- most likely they will first be used to detain millions of "criminal" immigrants. After that...
We know how it starts. "First they came for the Jews, and I didn't speak up..."
If politicians really wanted to help kids, they would allow gay couples to marry and adopt. Out of foster care and into a loving home. What could be better for a child?
But nooooooooo, the idiots in Washington (and everywhere else) can't allow that.
BTW: Polygamy is sanctioned by the bible, the same one these nut cases claim as their only reason for excluding gay couples from Marriage.... So much for slippery sloaps...
