Room 516 [all day]

Dec 20, 2010 12:44

Considering the content of the email she was sending to some of her friends, it wasn't like Sookie particularly minded the fact that the lights in her room had turned into Christmas lights. If anything, it sort of just brightened up her already-cheery mood, spurred on by the holiday music she was playing, and the phone calls she was making to Bon ( Read more... )

After her shift at 'Dite's had finished, Karla was also beelining towards Sookie's room. "I want to come!" she cried, bursting into the room. "Me! Me! I accept! And Warren, too!"

...She should probably run that by him, first, but whatever.

"About certain reports on the radio about a sweet, Southern telepath and a charming gentleman who occasionally spends time as a penguin," Karla said, grinning. "Said reports that could be considered possibly confirmed considering said telepath's own comments on the radio."

Sookie tried to look innocent for a moment longer before blushing crimson, beaming, and quietly offering, "...yeah, we stopped that whole 'waiting' thing."

Karla leaned over to hug her friend tightly. "I hope it was wonderful for you," she whispered.

Sookie hugged her back, smiling into Karla's shoulder. "It was. I mean, you know how...first times probably are, in this world, when we don't have to worry about your stuff. It was awkward and I didn't always know what to do and it kinda hurt and we shot a prophylactic across the room at one point. But it was...you know, Bobby. So it was pretty perfect."

She paused, and added, "Virgin Night or no, I hope yours is like that."

"Perfect?" Karla asked with a wry grin. "I hope so, too. Warren and I finally talked about it. I needed to know whether he'd want to be involved." She ran her fingers through her hair a bit. "There's a lot of responsibility involved and I wouldn't have blamed him if he didn't want any part of it."

She glanced down, cheeks heating up a bit. "But he did."

"Oh, good," Sookie sighed, smiling. "I mean -- it's good that it'll be with someone you love. Or at least with him involved. That was what made the difference with me and Bobby, I think. Why I'm glad we waited."

"We're sort of...planning things, right now," Karla admitted, still flushing. "I want..." she trailed off for a moment, putting her thoughts in order. "I want him and that, it's true. But what happened to Jaenelle scares me. I want the security of knowing that if something like that ever happens to me, they can't use their most potent weapon against me."

Sookie nodded along. "And a correctly...executed Virgin Night'll ensure that?" she asked, tilting her head.

"Not entirely," Karla admitted. "Because, honestly, anyone can be broken. That's just as true here as it is at home," she said, hiding an image of Ino behind her shields. "But it makes it significantly harder. It's like the difference between locking your door and leaving it wide open. Once the thread between my Craft and my hymen is severed, I'll be safer."

"Is there a way to reinforce that?" Sookie asked curiously. "I mean, protect it further. Like armor you up, figuratively speaking."

"I'm not sure," Karla said. "Once my Virgin Night is over, the effort to it will take to break me is extreme. If someone's willing to put that much effort into it, I don't think a little bit of figurative armor's going to matter much. It would take extreme mental, physical, or emotional duress, really. I think I'd be safer avoiding situations where someone could do that than trying to get tougher, or something."
