Summary:
Maybe Pete didn’t always know, or maybe he had, but when Brendon first told him, he hadn’t acted surprised and he didn’t treat Brendon any differently. He still blew on his face with morning breath before Brendon had had a chance to wake up, and still poked the bottoms of his feet when he fell asleep watching a movie. He still pinched him and gave him beer when Patrick wasn’t looking. He did ask what Brendon’s parents had named him. Brendon had stared at his hands and said, “Brenda, actually. Lame, I know. But it was easier than picking something totally new.”
Warnings: light drug use, instances of underage drinking, Au Brendon-less Panic!
A/N: First, I want to thank my beta, uncomfortable who looked over this ages and ages ago and who helped me pound out plot flaws and pick out mistakes.
Second, this is a genderqueer fic that covers the prickly issue of those people who fall between the cracks of gender definition. Being bi-gendered means something different to each of the people who identify as it. A general and inadequate definition would be that bi-gendered people identify as both genders. This is true, but how each individual manifests and acknowledges this identify is unique and difficult to categorize into a cohesive group. What I've depecited here is only one way of dealing with being a shade of grey in a world of blacks and whites.
