The table has been cleared of food and is littered with a variety thankfully still mostly-filled wine bottles (he has not let himself go that much). The variety is vast,

[Alcohol? Oh, so there. This Shinichi pick up a wine bottle consideringly. The label does not mean much to him currently, but he is willing to learn.]

They do say that sake is better shared. Would you welcome company?

[Shinichi waved airily at his companion.] It's unnecessary to explain. You'll notice I am not challenging you to any duels to restore her honour.

I would certainly hope not. Duels are not my forte.

Then it's well you should be particular around my wife. She's even better with a sword than I am.

[draining the last of his glass and placing it on the table] Aaah, variety is but the spice of life! The Chardonnay, perhaps?

[Shinichi scans the bottles and finds the label belonging to the Chardonnay.]

This? It does not look so dissimilar from sake -- [uncorking it to pour] -- ah, very different. Your glass?

[Oh, he very much is.]

Tell me -- is this your first time to the Mansion?

Indeed. I have been here for a few days already, but before now, I never knew such a delightfully curious building existed.

[samurai_error]

It contains many marvels, this place. It is odd that no one has yet stood forward to lay claim to the authorship of such a place.

Not so odd, once you think about it. The individual who created this place would have to posses great power, and you can only imagine the demonstrations that would be demanded of anyone who claimed authorship.

One does not make demands of a spirit. The more powerful the spirit, the less one wishes to demand of him -- is that not common sense?

Aaaah, spirits? Are you convinced this nexus was created by spirits?

[Shinichi's shrug is somewhat offset by his grin.]

There is no book in the library to say it was made by science ... but it lacks the distinctive traces of a spirit's work.
