i don't like to write about my life in here anymore, because people on here are idiots who like to sit around criticising people because they live boring and horrible lives.

so.. i'll write about my experience at a place i volunteer at.
and i'll educate you all a little, because i bet you don't know that much about birds...

this is amazing.. )

Hey

Great Post!

I am opening up an adoption center in a local mall here in the Triangle. To summarize, local rescues and shelters will bring the animals into the center to hold adoption events. I will also be focusing on education. Would your group be willing to provide some brocheures and educational info?

Vash is sleeping in the cage right next to me, I wish the camera was charged. We'll try to take some more pictures this weekend for you.

By the way, a new guinea pig forum has opened up which, if you like that kind of thing, I higly recommened. It's pro-rescue, pro-pig group with tons of experience. If you're interested, check us out.

i will talk to Mary about some brochures and educational info.. she is always so busy. she and her husband run the organization entirely (and i do have to say, they really need to stop taking every bird they get, because they are way in over their heads).. they're great people, though.. and they do adopt out some birds ( ... )

thank you. :]
my boyfriend thinks i'm obsessed.. but he's wonderful because he goes with me and he does love animals too.

if you ever look into the eyes of a hyacinth macaw (and i hope you get the chance).. you will just melt. angel looked at me like a child looks at you, like she needs you and is so thankful for your affection.

it's amazing to me that an animal so WILD (only 1 generation from a wild bird), can be so loving and sweet.. and totally undomesticated.

absolutely fantastic post. you did a great job of articulating the way i have always felt about the whole "birds as pets" concept, and you really share some great information.

if even one person doesn't buy a bird because they read this post, you've done a wonderful thing.

well done.

thank you so much..
who are you?

i hope to one day adopt a bird from her.. my dream is to own a hyacinth.. but i also love cockatoos.. however, my boyfriend and i are very rare.. and not many people have the patience required in owning a bird.

i hate seeing birds in pet stores. i just imagine them going to some home with someone who wants a quiet animal that will talk on command, stay in their cage, and live for ten years.

poor beautiful things.
