Nah, you're not the only one. :) Great LJ drama occurs frequently involving memes; people who un-friend, or refuse to friend back, when there's too many mames in a particular journal. *g*
I have a very meme-happy flist and for a while, some time ago, after beeing especially flooded during one week, I had to seriously think about if I wanted to keep some people on my flist. There were tons and tons of memes, not under LJ-cuts, in single posts for every one and sometimes posted just minutes apart... But then I found a code for my layout that hides them under a cut and I went with that instead. :p It's worked okay so far.
I do them sometimes (most I can't do since I have the coding in place), I like the pointless waste of time every now and then (though I do think there's way too many useless "what kind of slut am I?" quizzes around), but I usually try to put them behind a cut and also stick them together with something else - not just the single meme in a post.
Yes, and frequently even. :) I can understand it somewhat, if it's new-ish friends that you've not yet gotten the chance to make a connection to, if they suddenly start posting them every two minutes all through the day. ^^ I like LJ cuts too, I try to be considerate and use them whenever I feel they're necessary.
