Nah - for real though, you have more than just songs - you have the memory and meaning attached to them - good or bad. And thank fuck that no one can take those from you.

but ever since I first saw the movie that summed up my life, High Fidelity, I always think back to the beginning, when John Cusack says in his monologue, "What came first, the music or the misery?"

My only mention of High Fidelity comes with the fact that I remember sitting on the end of my bed watching it for the first time, watching the character unfold in front of my eyes, and all the while it felt in many ways that the television screen was a mirror to my life. The music. The misery. The overanalysis of life, love, and loss--and how it usually comes after the fact. Plus, there were two Bob Dylan songs, and some good ones at that, so yeah...
