30-day fanfic meme, Day 3

3. For each of the fandoms from day two, what were your favourite characters to write?

With fourteen fandoms, this is again long, so:

* Star Trek TOS: Spock. Long words, distinctive syntax, and logic: what's not to love? ;-) I've always had a hard time writing Bones, though he's my favorite character to watch, and Kirk drives me bananas; I dislike William Shatner enough that I tend to shortchange Kirk in the awesomeness department. o_O

* Captain America: Nick Fury (comics!verse). I like his rough, tough, scruffy style, his gruff snark, and the way he'll always give costumed types a fair break even though he doesn't particularly like them. Cap himself, again, is really hard for me to write; I've produced approximately one line, over the years, where I thought I really nailed his voice. XP Although the new movie ought to help with that, once I get the DVD and can mainline it like I want... ;-)

* Spider-Man: Venom. The character concept is so fantastic, and he almost always gets shortchanged by the writers. (Former investigative reporter teamed with a shapeshifty suit of clothes to protect the innocent - especially kids - and hand out vigilante justice? Yeah, no way I was not gonna love that, villain or no. :D)

* MacGate: Teal'c. The RDA characters are easier in terms of blocking and gestures, but I have trouble catching Jack/Mac/Rick's sense of humor, whereas Teal'c (like Spock) fits with my brain in a weird way.

* Doctor Who: the Brig, at least recently (looking at my fic output). I used to have a lot of trouble with him, but I did a bit of a Brigathon after Nick Courtney died, :'-( and between SJA ("Autons, Zygons, and all manner of space thuggery", my keynote quote for his accent) and The Web of Fear (which was on audio, so I had to learn to recognize him by sound), I got a bit better handle on his voice and started using him in everything. XD Makes it a lot easier to write in my X-UNIT fusion!verse.

* NCIS: Ducky. Only character I can write, frankly. (And, frankly, only because I'm going to grow up to be exactly like him in my own field. Y'all know my fearful ramblings. *g*)

* Sapphire & Steel: Steel. Of course. He's not easy to write; nobody in this fandom is. But he's kind of my "gateway" character, so.

* Bonanza: I can't pick. Well, I'm not going to. ;-) Adam's "my boy" - I love his understated wit and engineering smarts - but he's a little bit... well, bitchy, honestly. ^_^ Little Joe has a cheeky style that's fun to imitate (and I gave him my very favorite line in "Last Man Standing", though he's my least favorite of the guys); Ben and Hoss are both made of utter awesomeness, and I CANNOT CHOOSE. *nodnod*

* Man from UNCLE: Illya, of course. :-) I fell for him about ten minutes into "The Project Strigas Affair", and subsequently wrote a ridiculous amount of Illya-fic (of highly varying quality. ;P) Plus, his voice is easy for me, with the occasional Briticisms and scientific whatnot, though I've never quite gotten the hang of the deadpan snark - a thing I love dearly but cannot seem to write. o_O

* Legend (1995 TV): Janos Kristof Bartok. *g* Ramos doesn't have much of a voice of his own that I can find (which is a shame, because he is made of awesome and "has the power of sarcasm at his disposal", to quote eponymous_rose), so it was a choice between Bartok's geeky flamboyance or RDA's snarky sense of humor. Bartok is more fun. (Well, for me.)

* Star Trek TNG: Well, given that Q is the only TNG character I've written, no choice there. (I do enjoy writing him, though, when I can get the storyline to cooperate. He's got an unusually high proportion of "this is a brilliant line but I can't possibly fit it into the story I was trying to write" incidents. Actually, Bartok does too...)

* Star Trek DS9: Odo. Duh. ;-) I think Odo-and-Quark banter is my favorite thing in the world to write right now. I don't claim I'm excellent at it, but I like it. :-)

* The Middleman: ...nobody. I really can't write any of them. Including the mirrorverse characters (which is a shame, because I want a spinoff! Yes.) It's only on the list because I included mirror!MM and mirror!Lacey in "Kicking AUs, Taking Names", but all they do is take up space - neither one even has a line. o_O (Although admittedly, the general tone of "Kicking AUs" is quite Middleman-ish...)

* X-Men (UNIT fusion!verse): Wolverine. In what's apparently an unusual situation, he's both "my boy" and the character who's easiest / most fun for me to write. (He's also one of the few characters in my fandoms whose voice is usually present in my head whether I've checked his canon lately or not, and the most likely non-OC I write to do things I didn't ask him to do. *g* The denouement of "Vortex of Musings IN SPAAACE!" was totally his fault. XD)

1. How did you first get into writing fanfic, and what was the first fandom you wrote for? What do you think it was about that fandom that pulled you in?
2. Name the fandoms you've written in, and how much you've written in that fandom, and if you still write in it.
3. For each of the fandoms from day two, what were your favourite characters to write?
4. Do you have a "muse" character, that speaks to you more than others, or that tries to push their way in, even when the fic isn't about them? Who are they, and why did that character became your muse?

6. When you write, do you prefer writing male or female characters?
7. Have you ever had a fic change your opinion of a character?

9. Pairings - For each of the fandoms from day two, what are your three favourite pairings to write?
10. Pairings - Have you ever gone outside your comfort zone and written a pairing you liked, but found you couldn't write, or a pairing you didn't like, and found you could?

16. Summaries - Do you like them or hate them? How do you come up with them, if you use them?
17. Titles - Are they the bane of your existence, or the easiest part of the fic? Also, if you do chaptered fic, do you give each chapter a title, or not?
18. Where do you get the most inspiration for your fics (aka "bunnies") from?
19. When you have bunnies, do you sit down and start writing right away, or do you write down the idea for further use?
20. Do you ever get bunnied from other people's stories or art in the same fandom?
21. Sequels - Have you ever written a sequel to a fic you wrote, and if so, why, and if not, how do you feel about sequels?
22. Have you ever participated in a fest or a Big Bang? If so, write about your favorite experience in relation to one. If not, are there any you've thought about doing? And if not, why not?
23. When you post, where do you post to? Just your journal? Just an archive? Your own personal site?
24. Betaing - How many betas do you like to use to make sure there aren't any major flaws in your fic? Do you have a Beta horror story or dream story?
25. Music - Do you listen to music while you write? Do you make playlists to get into a certain "mood" to write your fic? Do you need noise in general? Or do you need it completely quiet?
