I did it. I sat down last night and finished the fic I've been working on and angsting over for the better part of two years in under three hours. Here it is, not half as good as I think it is. I can't bear to look at it anymore, but it is my baby, and I'm so glad to be able to show it to you all now.

They'll give her time first, space. Surprisingly, that will be Ron's idea. Harry, all need and action will want to search first, right away, but Ron's the strategist and he'll know. She went because she needed to, and unless there's time, it will have been for nothing.
But eventually, they will look, because her fears were wrong, and they'll find her.
Because without her, they can't be whole. Without them, neither can she.
At least, that's my prediction.
Beautiful, heartbreaking.
So worth the wait.

Shows you how much I know. ;) You're right, I think, right about all of that, and perhaps one day in the future I'll write a companion piece to this story that has a somewhat happier ending. ♥

I never really thought about what would happen beyond the ending...I suppose I always just assumed that Hermione would leave them for good.
And I find myself wondering if, at some level, you weren't thinking beyond this, weren't thinking of a return to happier times.
And the reason I wonder? You title is Birds Fly South. And they do. You know it, and so do I. But there's more to it than that, isn't there? Birds fly south for the winter. In spring, as the world is reborn, they return.
Interesting, is it not?

I love Trio fic when it's done really well, but it's not often that Hermione gets the attention she deserves. You really bring out her character; her neediness and sensuality and her practical self-sufficiency. And I love all your descriptions of their blue house, too, I could see it all in my mind's eye. Brava!

Seriously, though, thank you. You picked up on everything I myself love about the story. As for bringing out Hermione's character, that sort of happened by accident; I started writing straightforward Harry/Ron (two years ago!), but Hermione kept demanding to be heard, and I realised after a while that because of how close the three of them were it would always be her story too, no matter what happened, and I think it's stronger for it.
Anyway, thanks again. ♥

I'm always secretly delighted when my writing makes people read pairings they don't ship, because it's sort of my mission to open people up to whole new avenues of fandom. (hp_left_field, anyone?)
Thanks again. ♥
