It's okay to give yourself a break. Take one night off for yourself. And if your response is, "I can't!" maybe you're taking on too much. I know I'm severely over-working myself this semester with multiple films, 4+ clients, and classes on top of everything. My work isn't nearly as hard as what you're talking about. I wouldn't compare Avid editing/ProTools sound design to doing organic chemistry research in a million years. But it is time spent working hard. It can get... overwhelming to say the least.

So take a night for yourself. Not even friends. Just you. Take a bath, read a book, do something. That's what I'm doing tonight because lately projects have been slipping through my fingers because there's not enough hours in the day. But I learned that if I keep this up for another few weeks I'll have a breakdown. But resting for a bit allows me to get back on my feet and tackle everything that I've been complaining about. In fact, it allows me to enjoy it once again. I mean, it is film work :p

Good luck :)

Thanks Nate, that's a really good idea of just giving yourself a night, I think I'll try that soon. I know that you're super busy as well and I think it's awesome that you're handling it so well. Thanks again :)

Hey you! I'm sorry things are really stressful for you right now. In my experience, it is really easy to BS your classmates, but it's much harder to get past a professor, especially one who has a reasonable competence in his field. Trust me, they know talent and skill when they see it, and he obviously sees it in you. I would trust him, because my guess is you're going to be fine. What has worked for me in managing stress is to find a frivolous activity, something that gets you away from the library and has no material value. Track doesn't count because you are expected/somewhat obligated to show up. I know it seems like you can't cram any more in, but you're brain needs an opportunity to reset itself.

And of course, try to get at least 8 hours of sleep a night, drink lots of water, eat healthy, and always stretch before exercise ;). I have every faith in you, hang in there!

Hey Kara! Thanks for the kind words, you always seem to know what to say! I think a frivolous activity is a great idea, it's just hard to fit it in sometimes! Thanks again, you're a good friend! I hope everything is going well for you at UW!
