It wasn't until later that night that he pushed himself out of Elle's bed, offering his hand to her. He hadn't been able to sleep at all, for a variety of reasons, but it was probably for the best. After all, the more time they let pass, the harder killing Angela was going to be ( Read more... )

She pulled on her sneakers and smiled at his expression with affection. A little rest had gone a long way (she'd drifted off for a little while gratefully) and now the anxiousness she felt was overpowered by dark excitement.

The Haitian. She thought about his arms holding her back, his power stifling hers, only now instead of fear and panic... she felt anticipation.

"Yes," she whispered, and slipped into the hallway.

She returned his kiss, happy he let it go, and smiled up at him. "I'm going to burn the witch," she said sweetly, and crackled electricity through her fingers.

"That's the plan," He mused with a grin, making his way to exit the room. He only hoped that other man, Noah, wasn't around to try to stop them. If there was anyone Elle seemed hesitant about hurting in this place, it was him.

She quietly followed him out, blowing a kiss to the Haitian's corpse on the way out before gently shutting the door. "She'd be in one of the big, nice rooms," she said, heading back the way they came. "Prissy entitled bitch," she mumbled to herself.

"There are big rooms here?" He asked, quirking a curious brow at her. "So far the rooms have barely looked much better than the cells they keep the prisoners in."

"Well, bigger rooms," she clarified as they approached closer. "My dad had one because he was the boss."

"Makes enough sense," He replied with a shrug. "How do we figure out which one is hers?"

They made their way down the shadowy, quiet corridor. Elle examined the doors with a furrowed brow and turned to him to shake her head. "I don't kn-"

That's when she heard the click of a gun's safety; her eyes widened as Noah stepped out from an alcove, the silver glint of his weapon steady in his hand. Electricity instinctively filled her palms.

"You won't," he answered smoothly. "I will. It's this one." He turned his head to the door behind him. Elle didn't know whether he was lying or not, but it was clear he was stalling.

"Sorry," Gabriel smirked, reaching out with his hand, pulling the gun out of Noah's hand, throwing it far from him. "Your little friend won't be coming to help you this time." The glint in his eyes was anything but kind. He glanced back at Elle briefly. She had shown hesitance in killing this man before but he kept getting in the way and to Gabriel, that was reason enough to kill him.

Not to mention that he wasn't exactly happy with Elle's apparent fondness for the man.

Noah simply straightened, smiling thinly as his gun clattered to the floor and out of his reach. He clearly expected it to happen. "Elle," he said with a small, humorless laugh, "killing Angela won't bring your dad back. You're not even aiming at the right person." She glanced pointedly at Gabriel, adjusting his tie.

She stepped forward and lifted her hand, the electricity reflected fiercely on her angry face. "Shut up," she hissed.

He was right, but he didn't get it. He didn't understand--but he was right.

"He killed your father Elle, and nothing's going to change that," Noah continued in an eeringly calm voice.

"Shut up," Gabriel growled, bringing.a hand up to start choking Noah. He had to get rid of hom. He was a threat. He was trying to take Elle away from him. And that just wasn't okay.

Noah tensed, but kept his eyes on Elle. She stared back into them as they lit momentarily with fear. "Do you really think you could have a normal life with him?" he choked out.

"You were a part of this too!" Her voice echoed down the hall and she dropped her hand to curl them both into fists. "You did this to me just as much as anyone," she said hoarsely. "At least he loves me!"

"That's not love, Elle," he sputtered out through the pressure on his throat. "You're just like an ability to him. You're just something else for him to control."

She paled and shook her head furiously, lifting her arm again. "It's not like that."

Gabriel tightened his hand, choking the man more now. His eyes were glazed over with rage. This man would never understand. He did love Elle, he loved her so much it almost terrified him, and he would do anything to make sure she was still his.

And he did mean just about anything.

"A simple man like yourself can't understand a love like ours," He spat.

Noah choked, his eye going wide. Elle bit down on her bottom lip to keep it from trembling with betrayal and frustration and sadness and looked away, her eyes settling on Gabriel's furious face.

"Gabriel," she said thickly, and twined her fingers through his free hand, squeezing it reassuringly. "Just do it."

He nodded, squeezing her hand back, as if glad for her approval. It seemed like she finally understood where he was coming from. He was only doing all of this so they could be happy together. And so he kept choking the man, adding more pressure into he heard the snap of his neck, causing Noah's body to go limp. Gabriel let go, done with him now that he was dead. There was no need to cut into this head. There was nothing in there that he wanted.

She didn't feel the need to explain the sharp sting of tears she felt, watching Noah's broken, dead body thud against the floor. She set her jaw and angrily wiped away a tear that escaped.

She steeled herself, ignored the urge to turn into Gabriel's arms (she would break down, she knew it), and instead looked up into his eyes through the blur of damp tears. "Let's get this over with."
