They all did songs from movies this week. This is one of the worst Idol nights I can remember.

1. Jacob ("Bridge Over Troubled Water"): This was a pretty normal Jacob performance. As this competition he has managed to keep his voice a bit more controlled without losing the sweet tone or the emotions. This wasn't great, but it was the best of

The problem with Lauren's performance is that while she's a good wailer she's not really strong enough to be a belter - which is fine with me, but that means she's not the great one to power you through the ceiling and to the stars. So when the song rises, the accompaniment shouldn't have risen with it, but rather let her just be a bit louder than previously on her own, be a little more emphatic but not this massive arc of voice. She basically got lost in the sound. Also, she should have chosen another song.

I agree that it was a poor song choice. In fact, I think all of the contestants had particularly poor song choices this week, except Stefano and James.
