Oh yeah, that was another point somebody had asked about. Can't start over at UGA. They require that you send them all of your prior transcripts. Even if they suck. Even if they're ancient. If you've got any college credit to your name, not transferring it just isn't an option. Which is fucked up.
Crap, so even if my academic record were wiped they'd still want it? I mean, my reasons would be considered medical and confidential. Let's face it I don't need everyone knowing what happened to me. Well, with the 3.20 GPA I'm out anyway. Damn.
*sighs* Back to the drawing board I guess. After the New Year, I'm going to start talking to USC-Aiken, an extesnion to USC. I'll look at the courses they offer. I'm also going to go get into therapy. It's my only hope it seems to straighten my life out.
They want the official transcript from every school you went to. If you can get it removed from the official school transcript for medical reasons then you're clear. They just don't want you to skip a transcript; officially-fixed ones are fine.
As for the GPA, one option that both radiantbaby are looking into is taking classes elsewhere until we meet official transfer requirements, which is also perfectly valid. Good luck on the USC-Aiken and the therapy. :-)
Ugh. I hate it when follies of my youth come back and bite me in the ass. At least I've got the BS of CS down; but it appears that I spent my undergrad career making sure I'll never be be accepted to any respectable grad school.
My personal whining aside, have you considered GSU? Georgia's Slackest University? :)
From here: "All transfer applicants must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average (as computed by Georgia State University based on official transcripts) on all college-level academic coursework attempted at regionally-accredited institutions."
Considered. Shied away from it because I perceived it as a greater distance from home (ITPOMG!), but more importantly because UGA strongly attracted my attention with their degree programs in linguistics and later cognitive science.
It seems insane to me that someone could screw his academic record so hard that grad schools simply rejected him without question. There should be some sort of acceptable apology, perhaps in the form of external research and/or publishing. Don't mean to suggest it should be easy, mind you: just possible. Undergrad transfer I can imagine not following this rule: there are so damned many people who want undergrad degrees that I can see a university accepting a shitty hardass policy on it. But grad level? Should be possible.

*shrug* Maybe I'm naïve.
