I've been reading and thoroughly enjoying 1700: Scenes from London Life. This book breaks down the daily life by subject - Marriage, Disease, Fashion, the Poor, Crime and Punishment, etc. It includes lots of contemporary quotes and paints a vivid picture of London at the turn of the century. I had completely forgotten that I was waiting on 18th Century Costume in National Museums Liverpool from Amazon. It had been delayed, and delayed, but it arrived yesterday. It's only 47 pages, but it has lots of nice pictures. It even shows a pair of men's stockings with padded calves!
